Olivia Tremor Control just do weird shit. Either way I like them.

--- Quote from: Disgustipated ---Stoner rock doesn't refer to any rock music that people get stoned to :s Explosions in the Sky are not even close to stoner rock. King Crimson and Pink Floyd aren't really either.

Then whats up with the whole, "Dark side of the Moon to the Wizzard of OZ" thing then?
Still, from what I've heard of them, Kyuss is pretty good, I should probably get another listen in though. My friend described them as "Blues inspired rock with a bit of psychadelic" (and I know I butchered that spelling >.<)
Disgustipated:
Just because some stoner figured it was cool if DSoTM and the Wizard of Oz were played at the same time doesn't make them stoner rock. Its a genre, not a term to explain anything a stoner has listened to.
KharBevNor:
That's basically stoner rock.
In my canon, Stoner rock = generally quite groovy/heavy (in the hippie sense or the sonic sense)/bluesy rock music obnviously inspired by depressant or hallucinogenic drugs. Big umbrella term. Covers a lot of different types of doom metal, psychedelic rock, ultra-heavy blues (the kind of stuff that the first couple of Black Sabbath records really are) etc.
Interestingly, the flipside of stoner rock would probably be thrash and speed metal, which, whilst not directly inspired by drugs were inspired by Motorhead. And we all know the main reason Motorhead played so fucking fast is because Lemmy was and is off his face on speed almost all the time.
Kai:
Isn't Motorhead a term for someone who's on speed? WAY TO BE SUBTLE, LEMMY, JEEZ
