Am I the only one who liked FF1 and FFIV?  I'm actually working on FF7 for the first time right now, and it looks good, but FF1 was the old school hotness and FFIV (which I think was the first with any sort of job system, which it did very well) was awesome.  They went to the freakin' moon!

OK, so VI was better and I haven't played any of the others.  But still!  The old school hotness!

Yeah, although my longer post above didn't mention 4, that's just because  was focusing on FF games I had completed.  I have played fairly decent-sized portions of both IV (don't remember how far I got exactly, but it was a good 6 or 7 hours in) and V (I got to the end of the first world), and both were good.  Definitely below VI, but likely above IX, with IV ranked a bit above V, just because it had the superior story.  I can never really support a game where the main enemy is called X-Death.  That is one of the worst and most unoriginal boss names in existence.  Oh, and for fans of FF IV, Cecil does make a cameo in Square's Super NES game Secret of Evermore.

Well, VI was the first Final Fantasy I played, and possibly the first RPG I played (I can't remember if I played FFVI or Chrono Trigger first), so I naturally prefer it. Kefka was just awesome. I mean, at the end he's in a giant tower frying any town he feels like, with a mindless cult worshipping him. Crazy. Also, it was the only game in the series where you could play as a moogle. Mog rules. I would have bought FFXI if you could play as a moogle, but noooo.

Next I like IX. Mostly cause I think Zidane rocks. The twin-bladed sword or daggers was a nice divergance from the "Main hero with large sword" stereotype from VII and VIII (And continued in X). All the characters were fun and entertaining, and none of them felt whiny, like most of the characters from VII and VIII felt to me.

Although I have to admit I have not played the whole series, and not played hardly any of I, IV, V, X, and Tactics.
