Great Songs About the Sun or Moon?
AstroLad:
I’m putting together a sun and moon mix CD and so far I’m having more trouble with “sun” than “moon,” though I’d definitely appreciate suggestions on both. Here is my current track list:
Sun
Super Furry Animals, "Hello Sunshine"
Beatles/Voodoo Glow Skulls, "Here Comes the Sun"
Broken Social Scene, "Looks Just Like the Sun"
Mirah, "The Sun"
Moon
Vetiver, "Luna Sea"
Cat Power, "The Moon"
Eels, "Climbing on the Moon"
The Magnetic Fields, "Sad Little Moon"
Tom Waits, "Drunk on the Moon"
The Blow, "The Moon Is There, I Am Here"
Sun Kil Moon, "Gentle Moon"
Nick Drake, "Pink Moon"
almost thursday:
weezer - island in the sun
feeder - seven days in the sun
aha - the sun always shines on tv
sex pistols - holiday in the sun
Mikendher:
SUN:
emiliana torrini - sunny road
MOON:
iron & wine - no moon
elliott smith - st. ides heaven
nick drake - pink moon
BOTH:
the arcade fire - rebellion (lies)
TrueNeutral:
Moon -
The Foo Fighters - Virginia Moon
Sun -
Rammstein - Sonne (the lyrics translate roughly to 'here comes the sun, it's the brightest star and it'll never fall from the sky')
The Foo Fighters - A Cold Day In The Sun
Modest Mouse - Sunspots/Sunspots In The House Of The Late Scapegoat
Audioslave - Shadow On The Sun
Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun
Methinks Chris Cornell has a sun obsession.
But this isn't really indie fare.
EDIT: Oh yeah, Jesus Doesn't Want Me For A Sunbeam, by... uhh.
E. Spaceman:
Moon
The Killing Moon - Echo and the Bunnymen
Sail to the Moon - Radiohead
Moonwalker theme - Michael Jackson
and for Sun
Asleep on a Sunbeam - Belle and Sebastian
