Local Montreal critics, both french and english, seem to have given their souls to Malajube lately, and after buying their records and seeing them live I have to agree. Other cool ones would be Karkwa.

Edit: Felix has already mentioned Malajube, my bad, but they still rock.

A little band from Lincoln, Nebraska called Reverso Benigni http://www.myspace.com/reversobenigni.  Instrumental beep-rock (yeah, I just made that up but it describes them pretty well).
