She Wants Revenge - What's the big deal?

(1/5) > >>

the W'rkncacnter:
So I listen to Left of Center on Sirius radio constantly.  They play a pretty good mix of indie/alt/college kind of stuff.  Lately though they've been playing She Wants Revenge a lot.  I really don't think they're all that great.  Yeah their music sounds like Depeche Mode, and the guy is trying to sing like Joy Division/Interpol, but I don't think they're doing either particularly well.  Then I saw a banner add for them on the QC main site.  Okay, so I must be missing something.  Why does everyone like them? Is there something behind the synths and monotone singing that I just don't get? I want to like this band, like everyone else seems to, but I just don't hear anything that great.

Praeserpium Machinarum:
Judging from their name they are pretty much predestined to suck.
But then again I am a snob :)

A question though, why would you want to like something that you do not find any merit in?

wigfried:
In my experience, people don't actually like this band, but they're composed of a couple of high-level scenesters from NY, and so people feel like they have to like it. A bit like A.R.E. Weapons, although the album is nowhere near as pathetic as that trainwreck.

Stifled Dreams:
Just because there is a banner ad for them, it doesn't mean that Jeph likes them, or that people like them in general. His ads come from indieclick (if I remember correctly) so he doesn't really choose what goes on the site.

Anyways, their cover art made me make a mental note to avoid them.

LIVE!Forever:
fucking horrible.
