Good Night, And Good Luck

Shale:
You'd want to read up on the general path that McCarthyism took; the movie does a good job of walking you through Edward R. Murrow's story, but has very little background on the political situation at large.

Pesonally, I loved the film, but that really wasn't surprising; I'm a liberal journalist history buff who's also a big fan of both David Strathairn as an actor and George Clooney as a director. So...yeah, this was pretty much made specifically for me.

minignome:
I'm 22 and went to see this film with my parents who both lived through the times that this was happening.  I knew the story vaguely from high school and I think I enjoyed it much more than they did.

It seems like the movie doesn't add much to the story, it just tells it straight out.  So if you are very familiar with the story you may get bored.  My step-mother ended up getting up and leaving.  Another problem with it is that the only thing it does add (the Robert Downey Jr. relationship) is a let down near the end (I don't want to ruin it.)

Overall though, I really enjoyed the film.  I think it's worth seeing even though it probably won't win any of the many awards it is up for.

Grumpus:
I'm 15 and i thouroghly enjoyed it for so many reasons. But then I am a complete film history and politics nerd so I don't think many other people my age would enjoy it.

AdamIsConceited:
Based on everyone's positive reviews I feel compelled to see it now... thanks.

Ravenbomb:
it comes out on DVD Tuesday, and I can't wait. This is one of the few movies that had me beaming throughout most of it because of how good it was
