But then I slap them and they cry a little and we're all better because of it.

Okay, here's my biggest one. I actually prefer later Metallica (the Loads, St. Anger is the worst thing to happen to man since the dark ages) to the earlier stuff. I don't know, there's just something about it that I like. It's not metal, and I'll never say it is, and I also don't necessarily think it's better music, but I like it more.
