To start out on????? Are you nuts?

Wowzas.
Every guitarist, at sometime when they're starting, hasto learn how to play Smoke on the Water, and then go into a guitar shop, find the shiniest guitar and the biggest amp, and try to play it and fuck up. Of course, this has now been replaced with Seven Nation Army, apparently. FUCK YOU, JACK WHITE.
Yeah, White Room is fucking easy. First song I really learned.

I have the tabs committed to memory. They're so easy because you only need to use one string.
Oh three five. Oh three six five. Oh three five, three oh.
Five, five eight five three one oh. Five, five eight five three one/three one oh.

Awesome. That reminds me. Once I get my guitar from home, I'm gonna have to learn to play as much of Crossroads as I can, because that is one of the all-time most awesome songs, ever made, ever. How many songs have every member of the band doing a solo at the same time for more than a minute? Not a lot.

Oh man, that song is GODLY. I don't think I have EVER played a more fun guitar solo. Ginger Baker's drum part is surprisingly easy too, but I don't think I'll EVER figure out what that fucker Jack Bruce is doing on that bass. :B But man, if you think THAT'S nuts, you should hear their live version of "Spoonful" off of disc 2 of the Gold set. 17 minutes long or so, and the solo section is just absolutely shattering. There's Clapton doing his epic drone-based solos, and Jack Bruce whips out some crazy bass riffs that SHOULDN'T fit that chord progression, but somehow they just do.[/creamworship]

That was me being sarcastic.

The internet is not a good sarcasm transporting contraption.

Generally it's a good indication if it makes you do a double take out of absurdity. But in many a cases, it's a bitch.
