I'm pretty sure that all those bands you listed are the exact arguement against ever listening to heavy metal ever.
Anyways. 3 Inches of Blood are ace, and Advance and Vanquish is one of my favorite metal albums ever. Testament are amazing. Symphony X are probably one of my favorite prog metal bands. Finntroll are shitloads of fun. Skyclad win the folk award (At least with the two albums I have, Wayward Sons of Mother Earth and Prince of the Poverty Line). And of course, you can't go wrong with the Maiden. (Well, technically you can; The X-Factor, anyone?)
