HIT SHUFFLE SAY YEAH

<< < (39/108) > >>

Jedit:
Firing up my "full" WinAmp playlist with most of the Mike Oldfield and Jeam-Michel Jarre removed for Reasons of Taste (AKA I'm sick of them) gives:

1) Burning Airlines - "Paper Crowns"

Don't ask, because I don't know.  An Epitonic grab.

2) Marcy Playground - "Sleepy Eyes"

Not a favourite, but every credibly-sized music collection (and I'm aware some of you will have far more than me) needs some filler.

3) Tanya Donelly - "Lantern"

Part of my ongoing female vocalist thing.  Again, though, one of the weakest songs I have by the artist.

4) Lisa Gerrard - "Tempest"

Good voice, that woman.

5) Nerf Herder - "Theme from Buffy the Vampire Slayer"

<Austin Powers> It's not mine... </Austin Powers>

(I prefer the Breeders version. :))

6) Shack - "Cornish Town"

Heard the album this came from playing in my FLRS - possibly this track, now I think about it.  It was nice and cheap and I liked it, so seven United Kingdom pounds changed hands and it was mine.

7) Supersuckers - "I Want The Drugs"

Man, I love this track.  Second time today I've been obliged to mention it in a thread.  Fast, frenetic and funny.

1. His Name is Alive - "Lotus Blossom 1"
2. Kitty Craft - "Mama's Lamp"
3. Shümai - "$18 Rubber Pants"
4. Hum - "Apollo"
5. Reindeer Section - "Cold Water"
6. Sportique - "Love and Remains"
7. Tiara - "Get Some Sleep"

rive gauche:
1.Pretty Girls Make Graves - Domino
2.Dismemberment Plan - Superpowers
3.Dismemberment Plan - Face of the Earth (two songs from the same album in reverse order, how boring)
4. Devo - Come Back Jonee
5. Denali - Normal Days
6. Spoon - 30 Gallon Tank
7. Dismemberment Plan - Girl O'clock

Sooo apparently my computer likes to play a lot of Dismemberment Plan. I am fine with this.

nescience:
Here's another go at the work iTunes Shuffle.  Let's see if we can't get something closer to home:

1. Frank Zappa - Peaches III :: A reworked version of "Peaches in Regalia" from the live Tinsel Town Rebellion.  I insisted that this track go on my company's demo of the speech recognition product that we're designing.

2. 1995-2004, Mixed by Me:: A mixed-together 74-minute set I made a couple weeks ago of some of my favorite tracks from this time period.  Includes some of my favorites like "Run Into Flowers" by M83, "Too Young" by Phoenix, "7777" by the Boredoms, "Transit" by Fennesz & David Sylvian, and more.

3. Gary Numan - Ice :: A relic from Numan's old punk/new wave days before he became a synth-popper (as catalogued on The Plan).  Not great, but enjoyable.

4. Television - Elevation :: Fitting that this track from Marquee Moon should come up this time around.  I know and love Marquee Moon but I really can't get into Adventure, which is where the Television track on the last shuffle round came from.

5. Mathematiques Modernes - Disco Rough :: Very enjoyable synth-pop/punk track from Tigersushi late 70s-early 80s French underground compilation So Young But So Cold.  I highly recommend.

6. Sloan - Everything You've Done Wrong :: One of the better tracks on one of my favorite albums when I was growing up.  These were the premier Canadian power-poppers when the New Pornographers were still just a twinkle in Carl Newman's eye.

7. Bulldog Breed - Austin Osmanspare :: Early psychedelic rock from the Decca psychedelia/prog compilation Legend of a Mind.  Also quite a good compilation.

Kai:
You win for getting renditions of Zappa songs (Especially really good ones like Peaches...) into speeches. Propaganda FTW
