you're involved in a freak accident during potions class at hogwarts (you weren't paying attention because you were too busy listening to your ipod*). you are now deaf to all music - except for whatever band was you were listening to at the time of the incident. wizard researchers are working on a cure, but until one is found you can only hear that one band for possibly the rest of your life.
what band were you listening to?
(tl;dr a really fancy nerdy way to ask 'if you could only listen to one band/singer/composer for the rest of your life, who would it be?)
*yes i know electronic equipment doesn't work inside hogwards jubt just bear with me. nerd.

I think I'd go with Pink Floyd. Enough of a catalogue and enough variation to capture most of my moods.
-
Electric Wizard
-
The Fall or the Beatles.
Actually, the correct answer is Guided by Voices.
-
oh yeah so the reason i posted this was because as i was driving to work this morning i realized that if i could listen to nothing but belle & sebastian for the rest of my life i would be so ok with that.
1 whether i am happy or depressed b&s have the song for me (and those are pretty much the only two moods i switch between)
2 i think from their whole catalogue there is maybe one song i don't like, and maybe three that i 'only sort of like'. all the rest are on a scale of 'lovely' to 'super lovely'.
3 they're still alive and will be making more music which will likely be good (as in, they are not past their peak, or dead.)
yes, these are the essential life truths i ponder over before 8AM

While I was reading the first post... I was listening to Boris.
There's no way of losing with Boris.

I'm guessing like 75% of the people here already know my answer.

Prolly Aphex Twin.

One time I was about to get on a plane bound from JFK to Heathrow and I unthinkingly plugged my iPod into my laptop, which sadly booted iTunes automatically. Since my music was stored in an external HD on my desktop computer, it erased the entire contents. The only MP3 I had on the laptop was 'Roadrunner' by The Modern Lovers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TDJShMk-r88). I loaded it on and boarded the plane.
I listened to that song maybe 600 times in a row.

Right now I'm listening to God Only Knows and I reckon that's not such a bad deal.

Deerhunter, on a flight from Sydney to L.A. my old shitty mp3 player somehow wiped all my songs except for Turn It Up Faggot, half of Cryptograms and "Flourescent Grey" + assorted stuff from other bands.
-
On the other hand I could do The Mendoza Line too.
-
John Zorn maybe? Not because he's an absolute favorite, but he has a huge, varied and entertaining discography.
-
Andrew W.K.
He has a ton of music out there and you would never stop partying, who needs a cure at that point?
-
la monte young, i'd move into the dream house until i got fixed
Yeah, same thing. The Well Tuned Piano could keep me interested for at least a year.
-
Oh yeah I totally forgot about this thread
The Mountain Goats, dudes. Definitely.
-
No.
Because he is mine
-
I would probably say The Appleseed Cast.
-
Considering how huge and varied their discography is, it's tough to go wrong with Burning Star Core
-
Easily Tritonal 'cos they release a single approx. every 7 seconds and they're all awesome.
