Seems like Emily is still sort of being trained, though. A couple of months may be too long...
I keep wondering where the sacrifice is made, what happens to the tea and toe nails and what the ceremony is.A small amount of tea and clipped fingernails is added to each shot.
Before I recognised the jump I thought it was Emily with Cosette. :wink:That was my first thought as well. I did find it strange that Cosette was wearing an Opeth shirt though, she doesn't strike me as a girl who enjoys that kind of music.
Is it wrong that I really want this 'Bleminda' to join the main cast based on her freaking awesome red and purple hair alone?

I agree wholeheartedly.
I needed the Opeth shirt and earrings to cue me that it was Dora initially.
Look at the strip title folks! A significant time skip is explicitly stated.
The surgery is going to be on his ear. He posted a strip about it a month or so ago.
"We will not look at your butt, sorry"
Which is a blatant lie.
"We will not look at your butt, sorry"
Which is a blatant lie.
It's there for the customers to know, which is what intrigues me. Did a customer come in and specifically ask for an opinion?
Also the 3/4 view of Emily in the last panel seems a bit off to me… anyone else?Yes. In the last panel, Emily's and Dora's faces look almost the same. But I'm not going to point the bone; I can't draw for toffee.
"We will not look at your butt, sorry"Don't make promises uou can't keep, Dora. (http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=725) (Strip also shows the old price list. Maybe Dora has raised her prices and the old list is away being rewritten?)
Which is a blatant lie.
I'm thinking the board says "We will not k[iss] your butt" , the two parts l< of the k not quite touching.
Y'know, other then Dora I really hope there's another character who's hairs grown out, that one being Hanners. I always liked her long hair better then the short she's had all this time. Miss it.I wanna see Marten with a full-on Kylo Ren perm!
Bad news everyone, I made Claire cuter
Why do people live outside of California? Honestly.My guess would be to avoid a, what?, four year drought? Besides I like living on the last Atlantic pit stop before the U.S. Sure we've three storms in as many weeks and the possibility of another three in the next two weeks, but it's home.

And once again Jeph has activated his TARDIS and skipped ahead.She probably has. :3
I have to say it looks like Claire has moved in with Marten here.
Why do people live outside of California? Honestly.When I read about winter temperatures in the northern USA I shudder. I would be a little ball of polar gear (including a face-mask) as I rode to work on my tauntaun (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Tauntaun). Actually I commute on a bicycle (much less smelly, but you can't cut it open and stuff a friend inside), and while there are solutions to cycling in freezing weather (http://www.icebike.org/ice-biking-how-to-do-winter-cycling-in-ice-and-snow/), I'm glad I don't have to.
Okay, so in response to jheartney's question, here are my guesses (and I emphasise 'guess'):I was looking for a ring on Claire's hand in today's strip, but they're showing the right hand, not the left, so there's no way to tell if she has one. Probably a bit fast to have them getting hitched, I suppose, though they've been giving off married couple vibes in some strips ("Salmon don't live in lakes, dear"). And some couples just jump into it once they've connected.
- Marten and Claire are still together; Claire is having a hard time with this being her last year of her Master's degree in Library Sciences but things are slowly happening; they're both currently angsting about whether Claire should move into the apartment; Mrs Augustus is very keen for this to happen;
- Dora and Tai are continuing to become less like college girlfriends and more like a long-term adult couple. Tai has ended her lease on her digs, feeling confident enough in herself and Dora to move into Dora's apartment in Amhurst;
- Faye, as part of her attempts to help Bubbles, has been getting into the AIs' cultural scene and finding it surprisingly similar to its human counterpart in most ways. Bubbles is continually annoyed by other Synthetics ragging her about being a 'Squishy Socket Jack'; she continually refuses to explain to Faye what that means, growling about 'obscenities';
- A 'musical chairs' room-swap involving Marigold, Momo, Dale and May appears to be in the offing; May has, with her usual charm, actually approached Bubbles over this as she and Momo would be better able to afford the lease on Marigold and Angus's old place if they had a third roomie;
- Clinton and Emily seem to be quite happy to be in a 'very best friends' relationship, although whether Emily would like to push things further is up for debate; Clinton is having a hard time interpreting her very affectionate behaviour; Claire is pushing him to 'make the next move' but he's more-or-less happy how things are;
- As we saw in today's strip, Emily has settled in well at CoD and has developed her own celebrity status as the 'Weird Nickname Girl';
- Jim has proposed to Veronica; she has asked for time; whilst she'd like to stay with him, the wounds of the failure of her first marriage run deep;
- Hannelore is still her usual self; she's still seeing Sven regularly and Dora is still worried that either Hanners or Sven may hurt the other unintentionally;
- Pintsize and Winslow have been secretive about something but Faye has seen Pintsize hanging out at the Fighting Arena and has seen him talking to Corpse Witch.
I have to say it looks like Claire has moved in with Marten here.
Someone call AprilArcus! We have confirmation of a MAJOR TIME SKIP!!!
Also, Cute Claire is Cute.

It certainly puts an end to the For-god's-sake-what-day-is-it-NOW?! aneurysm and starts a whole new what-the-hell-month-is-this conundrum instead.

I'm thinking two, maybe three months at most for this skip.

What, just because it's currently 9°F here in Massachusetts? (That's -13°C, for those of you used to a rational temperature scale.) No big deal. Could be worse. Could be snowing.
Looks like we went from late September/early October to some time in January or February, at a guess. Probably early January since Claire is still complaining about how cold it is - later than that we kind of get used to it and stop talking about it unless there's a really extreme arctic blast.

Here in Michigan, our winter's been extremely mild so far, actually - we've barely dipped below 32F all winter. Which, when you compare it to last year and the year before's -10F and sometimes, -20Fs, is a nice change.
My grows faster than average and it would take me about six months to grow it that long.

IT'S AN ADDICTION, PEOPLE! If you don't stop after a few basic piercings, you never will!WTF how does that guy even SHAVE ?!?!

And once again Jeph has activated his TARDIS and skipped ahead.TARDIS ? WANNA HAVE WANNA HAVE WANNA HAVE !!! I'd immediately travel to the 1970s and marry Katy Manning (FYI thats doctor companion Jo Grant). ;-)
It's 70ºF (21ºC) here in Hawaii and I had to close all my windows because I'm freezing my butt off.I feel most comfortable around 18C. 10C is still okay.
My grows faster than average and it would take me about six months to grow it that long.
I've got hair that's on the edge of being long, and in a month I expect it to be long enough that, on-stage, at least, I look like a basically-homeless teenager. Dora's not that far out-of range, at least not via my range.
I know nothing of such frogs, and apparently neither does google.Well, apparently Claire isn't majoring in biology.
Why do people live outside of California? Honestly.Judging from Marten's case: because their girlfriend decided to move to the frozen wastelands, and love makes us do silly things.
Tumblr-nose is the inexplicable tendency for artists on there to color their cartoon-people's noses a distinctly different color from the rest of their face, usually a red or much darker skin tone. Looks kinda silly, imo.Interesting. My first idea was that the tumblr-demographic would have a much higher propensity than the general populace to wearing septum piercings and therefore suffering from heat-conductivity-related effects.
ExpressoFor the love of Cthulhu, repent, and forthwith abstain from such foul crimes against language. It's Espresso!
If I ever move to California I hope I don't lose my cold tolerance. I can't imagine finding 21ºF* worse than "pretty chilly", much less 21ºC.Why do people live outside of California? Honestly.

(Assuming no major wind chill, it's 9ºF here in Jersey this morning with a wind chill of -2ºF, where the F stands for "fuck this shit")
Also I'm surprised at the plug hate. Plugs are super cute! Especially the (relatively) tiny ones that Claire has.
"There is no bad weather, only inadequate clothing".
At 20 Fahrenheit my Icelandic wool sweater keeps me (barely) in my comfort range.
Yesterday - lots of people noted Dora's longer hair; but I first noticed Emily's being long enough again to tie back.
Today - no comments on Claire's new squared-off glasses? I like them. Also, Claire's body mods seem to be going the way of mirroring Jeph's!
On the matter of body mods, look closely at panel 3 at the nape of Claire's neck. Do people really put piercings through those parts of their bodies? (shudders)
I know nothing of such frogs, and apparently neither does google.Well, apparently Claire isn't majoring in biology.
Plus you don't want to sink into the ocean when The Big One hits.Don't worry about drowning since the pyroclastic flow will wipe all those worries away.
I have to admit I loled at the TA complaints.
edit -- fun story from grad school: one of the grad students who I TAed with once accidentally referred to her students as her "stupids." The name stuck. :-D
Aaahhh, the joys of grading ...
(Yes, this is what it feels like. Which is why every semester, I pin this comic where I can see it while grading; to remind myself: "Nope, undergrads are not becoming more stupid - you are becoming ever faster at this shit")
I'm thinking two, maybe three months at most for this skip.
Dora's hair must grow extremely fast, then. My grows faster than average and it would take me about six months to grow it that long.
Actually, I'm not sure about that - Her bangs are long enough to need to be kept out of the way when she's working.I'm pretty sure PWH is correct. Emily has quite substantial bunches there, well back behind her ears, with no locks hanging down in front, so imagine how long her hair would be when not tied back. She started with longer hair than Dora, so I think Jeph got it pretty right.
Girl, seriosly: you should get a different frame. It does not suit you. If you want to scare off your student it´s fine. But you would look a lot cuter with another one.Claire's outfit looks as if it's intended to say "I am a serious professional", and "cute" is not part of that message. She wants to be taken seriously, not hit on.

English-useage question: I have always read the Americanism "bangs" as the equivalent of "a fringe"; hair cut relatively short at the front and intended to lie across the wearer's forehead. So, I'd have said that Emily has never had "bangs". Have I been understanding the term incorrectly?

You people and your single-season states. Here in Arkansas, we have ALL THE SEASONS. Sometimes in the course of a single week.
(Also: s/useage/usage/ :-P)Ooops, yes, spelling fail. Sorry.
Didn't you know that looking cute is every woman's ideal and obligation to the men around her?Don't get me started. :-D

I don't think they're plugs. I've seen a lot of large disk earrings, though usually more in a clip-on variety.
...I begin watching Game Grumps, realize QC has likely updated, stop the video, only for today's comic to be about Let'sPlays. Wat.
"LP videos."Vinyl *is* making a comeback. It is entirely possible that some people enjoy videos of someone putting their LPs on a turntable and playing them.

I can't see wearing a scarf over your face, but not wearing a hat. But then Poofy Hair is probably super insulated.

Hats are not friendly to poofy hair, especially snug knit winter caps. Sometimes one must suffer (a cold scalp) for beauty.
"LP videos."Being a child of the VHS era, I have no personal experience with these, but is it possible that those analog video storage devices that were quite similar in format to a vinyl LP (i.e. Video Disc resp. Laser Disc) were sometimes colloquially called "Video LPs", "LP videos" or such?

Sometimes one must suffer (a cold scalp) for beauty.Cycling helmets are compulsory in Australia, so it is necessary to suit the hairstyle to the helmet rather than vice-versa. My hair is naturally straight, though, which makes life easier.
Did Marigold teleport across the street?
CED was really a far closer technology, seeing as it even used a read stylus: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitance_Electronic_Disc

I wonder if Marigold herself has a Patreon account and makes LP videos. Defending her Dad's shoe-shop website from the Red Chinese (http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1993) can't keep her that busy.

I don't feel safe riding on Sydney roads, to be honest.
I am getting this crazy vision of Marigold and Veronica leaping in and taking over Sam's attempt to play video games on camera, trying to turn it into a huge internet geeky empire.
I suddenly realized what is happening here: Marigold has always wanted to have her own YouTube empire but has lacked the confidence in her voice and diction to do so. All these questions she's asking Sam are, of course, questions that she's asked herself as she's drawn up her own plans, which are currently hidden from everyone out of fear that they might actually force her to go through with it!
Will she end up trying to live vicariously through Sam's simpler and more innocent ambitions? Or will Sam's greater self-confidence just make her feel worthless and weak (again)?

At least Marigold knows what she is and is comfortable with the label.
I will never understand watching someone else play a game for hours on end instead of actually playing it yourself. My 11 year old son will watch Minecraft videos forever if I'd let him. I guess I'm getting old.

My take on it is the Marigold sees her younger self in Sam (both Sam and pre-Dale Marigold were renowned for their piquant aroma). A post-pubescent Sam might someday gravitate to soft-porn gaming titles too.I'm pretty sure it's just now more comfortable with being open Marigold will just jump at a chance to talk games.
Or maybe this is one of the few subjects that could get Marigold to reach out to someone outside her usual comfort area.
I wonder if the CIA or NSA has considered recruiting Marigold for Field Work.http://www.questionablecontent.net/1350 (P.S.)
Well, I wear a helmet as an adult in a country where they're not compulsory - if something happened (and stuff DOES happen. Like the time a taxi decided to pull out immediately in front of me while I was going downhill past a queue of traffic, too late to fully dodge or brake, and I bruised my hand badly on his door mirror) I'd rather at least reduce the chance of breaking my head.Cycling helmets are compulsory in AustraliaReally? I've just been reading We need to talk about Kevin, in which that actually happens as part of the story...
Did May do... character modeling... for that game? (Note the maid with the whip.)
Oh dear, if Marigold knew.
Or maybe she knows. And they're reenacting scenes. And it just happened to cross her head.
What? What book? Where did catboy come from and what was the joke Jeph couldn't resist?That catboy reminds me of Ardent from Alice Grove.
I was just going crazy. On my genitals.
She's 13, she's in that in-between stage.
There's also the "I can't afford games so the least I can do is play them vicariously through others" angle.Not to mention the "this game has never come out on any platform to which I have access without spending a bunch of money, but I'd still like to see it because I have heard that it's awesome.".
She's 13, she's in that in-between stage.
Since Faye called her a "larva" before, does that mean that now she should be building a cocoon around herself? And yes, I used "cocoon" because we all know that Sam would much rather be a moth than a butterfly.

And then there's the instructional aspect. I watch commented walkthroughs of historical or modern professional weiqi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Go_(game)) games, for example, I know Starcraft II players who watch pro games on the same basis, and MOBA (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiplayer_online_battle_arena) players do it too. Watching a play-through can get you past a point where you're stuck in a game too, although that should be a last resort.

Actually, I think it's that Sam's been given hips. Which isn't very surprising, since all of Jeph's females seem to have wider hips than they used to. I thought the same thing about how Emily was drawn a few strips back. Tai's another example.
I just hope she's learned the proper application of hygiene. I seem to recall Faye giving her a piggy back and then commenting that "That kid reeks!"Actually, I think it's that Sam's been given hips. Tai's a very good example of this. For the longest time, she had a very boyish figure; in the recent strips with her and Dora, she's almost got Faye hips. Quite the change.
