because I think Bailey is an unfortunately plain name for a dog.
Aurjay that pic reminds me of this pici dont think that dog could be any happier.
Calvin and Hobbes!!! CALVIN AND HOBBES!!!
So we're pretty much just turning everything into a Calvin+Hobbes mashup now huh
...are the only Calvin and Hobbes I know anything about at all.
[Picture of baby]
[Picture of baby]Do you have to pay a pet deposit for one of those?
Are you kidding, I bet John Calvin's beard would be an amazing thing to pet!

In this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CsTVG1cEgYQ), Tammy takes a walk.
This is the dialog that went through my head when I watched this:
"Hey Tammy, whatcha doin'?"
"Walkin."
"Mind if I join?"
"Ok su...OH SHIT WHAT IS THAT?!"
"It's just my camera. Can I tape our walk?"
"No."
"Please?"
"...No."
"Oh do come out."
"I...I don't like this."
"Please?"
"Oh...ok. But I still don't like this. Um. I'm going this way. You...you go the other way, ok?"
sister
Tommy, are those hairy cows still in your yard?
Oh man, I have something even better. You're going to have to be patient, I don't have a day off work any time soon.
To be fair all we can see is her headsister
14 years old.
Though to be honest I expect nothing less from you.

Sometimes I just don't understand how cats' spines work.

Remind me to ask you again in a couple of years.
doggyThat is a beautiful dog.
Whoa that's a unusual kitten right thereI forgot to mention, he also has a belly button that we need to get removed when we get him snipped.
The argument is (in the UK, at any rate) that payment demonstrates your commitment, and so gives them more confidence in the welfare of the dog in your hands; when we got Polly six years ago, it was Ł100. In the UK, the Dog's Trust will then pick up the cost of spaying (or do it for you free) if you take a puppy that is too young to have been done at that time.
They refused to hold him until he was old enough, even though my parents offered to pay them for kennel service, and they refused to let us take him home without getting him fixed.
KITTENS
TWO CATS NAMED "Rorschach"
THUNDERDOME
i mean not because it's unsafe or anything, just because i'm assuming most people get really freaked out when a stranger at their computer suddenly starts weeping and bawling for apparently no reasonThat video honestly didnt make me emotional...probably because I muted it after reading it was soo sad. But one of the "related videos" was this one and i teared up a bit.
Every cat I've ever known has been named only to simply be called "the cat" instead.
The Naming Of Cats by T. S. Eliot
I don't think naming a cat matters because they don't really ever respond to being called anyways.
Yeah, hypo-allergenic is not something that exists in pets with hair, even if that hair is short. There are less-allergenic cats, but that's the best you're going to get.
Russian blues are supposed to be good cats to have if you have allergies. There's a few other breeds out there, too. I don't think there's a hypoallergenic cat though...What if you get a bald cat?

Well, there are, (http://www.allerca.com/html/pricingreserve.html) but they are several thousand dollars apiece.
unruly
Yeah my cat could kill you by sitting in your lap. He's a fatty. He likes to sit on my chest and crush the air out of me. Or knead on me and smoosh all of my organs into oblivion. Lucky for him, he's adorable.
I definitely am getting my doggie! I will pick her up on Sunday afternoon!
Basenji!

Losing a dog is hard. You have another, which helps, but you won't forget the old one.
Second trip to the vet's today. Said goodbye. My sympathies. Losing loved ones is very hard.
...why she prefers to pee on the carpet five minutes after she's back inside.
But it's MY territory...
She's extremely submissive on other dogs' turf
Exactly. The pee mark makes your home her turf to other dogs.QuoteWhat do you mean by "a puppy she can raise right"? Unlike my wife, who was raised with animals, I was lucky to have a goldfish for a year when I was young. I'm rather new at this "fur family" business.
Puppies are automatically submissive to be acceptable to any other dog. If the dog you get is mature, there may be a dominance competition between it ans Mishka. There may not, but it's hard to know beforehand. Also, if a mature and more dominint dog takes over her turf, she may start acting out from the frustration and loss of dominance - chewing on things, and other destructive behaviour.
Besides, puppies = cute!! You don't want to miss out on that.
My wife's dog, Mishka.
I have graphed (to the best of my MS-Painting ability) my family dynamics (http://s13.postimage.org/tx3wnuxdj/family_matters.png)...enjoy the confusion. That is a lot of cats. I approve. :D
get the poke-flute!
I think my cat is part Snorlax.
Dave is playing ... mousetrap?
I'm keeping my gecko love under control at the moment with those two.... Along with the Ex I used to have a breeding colony of Leopard Gex, Various other Cresties, a Blue Tounge Skink, Stenos, AFTs and and a Tokay.... alongside Snakes (not my thing),turtles, Fish, Birds, Dogs, Cats and Rabbits... It was a bit mad...And I thought just taking care of my one cat was a lot of work... :-P
Having trouble with my eyes lately. Read "tasted" for "lasted." Sorry.
I know my little sister's rabbits never lasted more than 3 years or so.
I expect exactly zero people to get that reference.
I remember you! You've already played with my chinchillas today! Get away from me, you pervy chinchilla fancier!

I don't whether to wook or doof at this (http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/ferret-poodle-argentina-125901615.html).
doof nak nak nak nak?
*shoosh pap*
Sure; ferrets are such a part of this group I should know a little more. I assume pap is the food and shoosh is the sound of peeing sans crystals. Right? Never mind answering. I know I'm right.doof nak nak nak nak?
*shoosh pap*
I don't know what this is but I imagine you saying it with a silly face and I can't stop giggling
Bob: ferrets are amazing, as I've said many times :) I can link you to a video of mine, if you're curious.
And with righteous pap and blessed shoosh he did quell his brother's fury. For the Knight looked upon his Bard all acting up and completely losing his shit and he did resolve to calmeth his juggalo ass right the fuck down.
Thomas O'Malley, as in "Abraham De Lacy Guiseppe Casey Thomas O'Malley"?
He died two days ago, and I'm still kind of in grief. He was my best friend, brother. We grew up together. He was a wonderful creature. It's hard even when you've lived through 5 or 6 cats, but I can't imagine losing a cat you grew up with. My response when we weren't downsizing the family was to get a kitten quite quickly. Can you do that?
Cats like to leave and go elsewhere to die. When they can't (in a house) they'll try to find a hiding place or a remote area.I knew that beforehand, which is making me angry that I didn't notice it with O'Malley.
Got my cat's ashes back from the pet cemetery today.
One of the pictures was of a second dog on an outboard end of the stick: an assistant branch manager.
I can't remember if I've said this before, but my mom made a little shrine for the cat I'd had during childhood (he died three years ago this month) and honestly every time I see it, I miss him like crazy, but it does make me happy to see his face. She has his ashes in a box on a shelf with pictures of him and us and a few cat knicknacks that people gave us over the years because of him. I don't know if it was something you were thinking of doing, but for me personally, it makes me feel like he's still around, watching us lazily from some unseen place.
How is Socks doing, Welu?
I have an appointment tomorrow to have my ferret Jaxom put to sleep
I have an appointment tomorrow to have my ferret Jaxom put to sleep :cry:Sending hugs today, my friend.
Of course, I miss him so much, but I know he wouldn't want me to be sad. I know that because whenever I did, he'd come over and lie down on my face.
He's gone.
It is so they can target the radiation treatment to open up his sinuses from the cancer.
"Perdida"? Isn't that "loss"?
3) One volunteer in the shelter was a total dick to her (actually watched him hit her with a pair of work gloves when she was just snoozing).
And that little furball is (hopefully) a week from being my new kitty. :)You needed that!
I am very against declawing. You're basically removing the cats finger nails. But that's all I'll say on the subject, as this isn't DISCUSS.
Actually, it's not just the fingernails - they take the entire last joint of the finger.
She's getting a little tired of all the picture taking.

Also bunny licks are the strangest but coolest thing. Kind of like cat licks, but smaller.
Honestly, I'd love to get one for my classroom (pending allergy stuff), mostly a Dwarf Hotot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwarf_Hotot), Jersey Wooly (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jersey_Wooly) (tiny angora!), or a Netherland Dwarf (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netherland_Dwarf) because tiny ones are cuuuute. Also I kinda just want a white rabbit so I can name it Harvey and also make Alice in Wonderland references.

I miss my cat. :(
And then, when you look down, you don't just see two long scratch marks on your thigh, but you see a piece of kitten's CLAW sticking out of your scratch mark. (Not the whole thing; just about the consistency of a trim piece of a fingernail.)

Let me know if I need to reduce the sizes of those pics. I know how... I'm just not familiar with what is "too big".
Hmm, crap. Three of the photos I put up are 2 Mb+ on my PC. I can't deal with it this second (getting things together to travel down to my other work site), but I'll get it all sorted out at some point today before I go to sleep.

My buddy's cat had kittens! Lookithowcute!
Today we went to a house and there was a cat and I didn't get to pet it :(
I sent a message to some people looking to rehome their guinea pigs, which is why I was on shelter sites yesterday, and I'm so excited! I might have small furries soon!I was thinking of getting a guinea pig once Sarah and I have our apartment. How much attention do they require? (I'd be glad to give them all the attention they need when I'm home, but I'll probably be out and at work a lot)
Guinea pigs!!Ohhh, I love guinea pigs! And Eddie looks so much like my last guinea pig, Black Beauty (who was a girl). Same shape of the head and body and same colour.
This is Eddie!! He's very curious!!
Grilling with gas is just wrong. Use wood or charcoal, it will taste so much better.
Although I have to admit, using gas is still better than an electric grill.
Ya want to taste the meat, not the heat.
It's not about the heat. Especially when grilling with wood, it's about the smoke adding flavor.Grilling with gas is just wrong. Use wood or charcoal, it will taste so much better.

Thirded. Although the types of cats I really want are a bit out of my price range.
That was what I was thinking. Either that or an ocelot hybrid, or if I was going down in price, a bengal.Thirded. Although the types of cats I really want are a bit out of my price range.
Throw your breed on the table. I want a S1 Savannah cat.
I wonder what the biggest indoor cat breed is.
Every Maine Coon I've seen has been very much an outdoor cat. While I was in New Hampshire my neighbors had one named Moose. Awesome cat, and roamed the neighbourhood all day. But yeah, I'm wondering specifically about indoor cats. Could a Maine Coon be an indoor cat or would that be mean?

Aww Linds that's awful :( Fingers crossed she'll make a quick recovery!
And May, was that the dog Jens met? I remember him saying he really liked your family's dog, and he never likes any dog ever so it must be a special one. I'm sorry to hear he's not doing well, hugs!

Thanks. Turns out it is just her liver, not because of feline leukemia or anything, so we've got meds for her and special food. Downside is we have to force feed her until she decides to eat on her own again. Which could be soon or it could take months... But eventually she will be ok.
Force feeding a cat does *not* sound like the sort of activity that one should participate in if they want to keep their appendages intact.

Kitteh. Doggeh. I wants to pets.Me too, but current living conditions aside, I don't do good with pets. Even my last fish died within two weeks of some obscure fish disease. One day he's swimming happily and making a bubble nest, next day he's a cotton ball with fins on, floating on the surface. The closest thing to a "pet" that I've had actually last was an orchid that I rescued.
Cats are a lot easier - they tell you, loudly, when something is up.
Fish are mysterious, unfathomable creatures with no effective way of communicating their needs. Cats are a lot easier - they tell you, loudly, when something is up.Except, of course, when they're dying and ACTUALLY NEED YOUR FUCKING HELP.
Cats do seem to want to die alone. I've known a few people who have had elderly cats up and vanish one day. Sometimes they're found in the next couple days dead (apparently from natural causes) hidden in a shed, or in some obscure corner of the garden. Sometimes they just are gone.Fish are mysterious, unfathomable creatures with no effective way of communicating their needs. Do guinea pigs need their nails trimmed? Not generally, so long as they've got some hard surfaces in their enclosure to scratch/walk on.
Frank has the rumbly tummies, and requires snugs to feel better. (http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/10/14/ef33dd8e5c56e747187830e0b4d88dde.jpg)

Alsatian/Beagle cross?Everyone thinks beagle, including me at first. But nope! He's a lab/chow mix! Maybe some beagle, but those are the main two.
Anyone have advice about introducing dogs to each other? I'm hoping Pixie will be able to stay with my parents and the family dog, Socks, when we're away in March.
Pixie is quite a nervous dog but she grew up surrounded by dogs so she's cautious but interested in strange ones. She's gradually warmed up to my neighbour's dog so I've seen if the other dog is chill then all is good for Pixie.
Socks hasn't been socialised at all and she's territorial. To me she seems very fearful of other dogs and my family and me are worried that means she could be really aggressive and even bite if she gets close to another dog. She practically squeals if a dog gets close and it's impossible to distract her or calm her down. The dogs have met briefly already, on leashes, and it's gone as expected, Pixie is nervous but interested until Socks freaks the hell out, which then upsets Pixie.
I'm looking up information but any personal stories?
Siamese are rather noisy. I wouldn't want one, no matter how pretty they are. Just get me some sweet random moggy, or if I got money, a Bengal.
Very upset, looks like Buster is going to have surgery to loose his eye It popped out and was scratched when the dogs got all excited in the back yardThe picture is post surgery.
You get used to having insects at home. Just make sure you use insects which can't reproduce at room temperature. There are types of crickets which need a higher than room temperature to breed. Same goes for grasshoppers.
At least leopard geckos love mealworms, but they're too fatty to be fed exclusively. And the geckos can't hunt them. That's the good thing about feeding crickets: You just throw a bunch of them into the terrarium, and the geckos will be busy for days.
In addition to leopard geckos (eublepharis macularis) we also have many crested geckos (rhacodactylus ciliatus), two rhacodactylus leachianus, and one very old phelsuma standingi. My mother is in a local organisation for reptiles, and thus has taken up a few geckos which have been brought in by shelters which didn't know how to care for them. The poor phelsuma is one of them. She's already several years above her life expectancy, and lived alone in a small terrarium. Now that she is in a larger terrarium she still doesn't leave an area roughly the size of her old one…
Ah! I love that sweater!!Hubby made it for him.
Cats are weird. They probably think the same about humans.

Good cat.
I bought calming drops to try on my doggy because she's so anxious. Trying to think of things to keep her happy while my Partner and I are away because she's very attached to us (well, me :P). My Mammy will be minding her and she's slowly coming round to her but still not as much as would be ideal.

I'm already there. And my children love me. And love to suffocate me in my sleep.
Lovely cats, can't have too many.
Lovely cats, can't have too many.
My cats are gigantic. They're all over 16 lbs each, and Kitten, the black and white one, is 19 lbs. Monster cats!
My cat definitely has a tumor between his eyes. And it's going to be expensive to get it diagnosed, and then who knows about treating it. My poor baby.
Richie the guinea pig just died. He was six but it was sudden and it was the first time I was there for a pet when it actually happened. I was able to hold him and be there for him.
I'm so sorry for your loss, Welu :(
I am so sorry, Welu. It is hard to lose a beloved family pet. :-(
Family dog had to be suddenly put down tonight. She was okay Saturday, then didn't eat from Sunday night. Brought her to the vet and turns out she had kidney cancer that had spread to her liver, nothing to be done about it. Mum and I are hurting.
Today, because the work was likely to be distressing to a nervous cat (not to mention dangerous for him and the builders)At least it isn’t your shoes?

Little darling.
