Ok, Mothers day is coming up soon, and I have a gift, but I'd like to get her a burned CD about well moms. However not to many come to mind. I've thought of Mother by Pink Floyd and Mother by Mr. T. Neither of which I'm eager to use. Any ideas.

Kanye West - Hey Mama
Wilco - My Darling
A cute song, supposed to be from a parent to kid, but it would be a good lead into a final "Thank you and love you" song (not sure what's appropriate for that).
-
John Lennon - Mother is a great song
-
*Sings* PUT YOUR HEAD ON MY..SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOULDEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRR..
-
John Lennon - Mother is a great song
As is the live version done by Neutral Milk Hotel (Jeff Mangum)
-
Oh god. Lol that one makes me head cringe.
-
All the ones I can think of are songs you definately don't want to use. Mutter by Rammstein = no. Well, if you want your mother to love you anyway. (Translation of the lyrics (http://herzeleid.com/en/lyrics/mutter#mutter) for your amusement)
BUT!
There is one song that's perfect.
Lynyrd Skynrd: Simple Man.
The only other thing I can think of that's not an ATTACK against mothers, and is only slightly creepy (because it was written as a love song to the singer's wife, because his pet name for her is Mama) is Mama, I'm Coming Home by Ozzy Osbourne.
-
Well DUH. "Mother" by Danzig.

You will use the Mr. T song. Or I'll personally visit and smack you. It's simply the best song for this special occasion.
-
Well DUH. "Mother" by Danzig.
Yup this is definitely the way to go.
I guess there's also "Mama Said" by Metallica but prior to St. Anger that was kinda their worst song.

I pity the fool who don't use my song.
-
EElS - Son Of A Bitch
"She was my mom, and I was no son of a bitch."
-
Well DUH. "Mother" by Danzig.
-
Pixies - Nimrod's son
"you are the son of motherfucker". She'll love it!
-
2Pac - Dear Mama.
-
Mother's Day by Stephen Lynch
Trust me.
-
Gjs by Mineral would be good. It makes me think of my mom and smile.
-
I'm sorry, but I win this thread: Iron & Wine - Upward Over the Mountain
-
I don't think you can proclaim yourself as the winner of a thread. That honour must be bestowed on you by someone else.
Also, "You are the son of incestuous union" - Come on, moms dig the Pixies I think.
-
please note sarcasm :-) (or is it?) ;-)
-
How many songs are there named "Mother?"
I'd suggest "Mother" by the Police.
THE TELEPHONE IS RINGING! IS IT MY MOTHER ON THE PHONE??!
Or just buy her a Wolfmother CD.
-
The song about Kyle's mom from south park. Definitely would make her something...
-
IT IS FUNNY BECAUSE WE ARE SUGGESTING SONGS THAT WOULD BE UNSUITABLE!
-
Hehe, yeah. So far not many of these are working, but at the very least I've gotten a chuckle.
She's a south park fan btw.
-

Or should be forced to. Anyway, I suggest The End by the Doors, if only for that ridiculous line that goes "Father, I want to kill you, Mother I want to... MBBBWAAURGH!!!"
Or on a more serious note, Little Trouble Girl by Sonic Youth.
-
John Lennon - Mother
Pixies - Nimrod's son
"Mother" by Danzig.
You people are going to make someone's mom cry. Well, the first two at least. Imagine getting a special CD from your son that had Lennon's "Mother" on it. That would be kinda harsh.
-
TISM - Everyone Else Has Had More Sex Than Me
What? I'm sure she'd appreciate the sentiment.
-
As a 19 year old virgin who's never kissed a girl, that song is more for me than my mom.
Yet I see your point.
-
THE TELEPHONE IS RINGING! IS IT MY MOTHER ON THE PHONE??!
Fuck do I hate that song. Synchronicity is mostly good for the singles.
EDIT: You know what moms really appreciate? The promise that, when you're far away, you'll eventually come home, full of affection for them and their womb-work. To that end: Jason Collett's "I'll Bring The Sun" would totally fit.
-
If my mom got a mix that had Danzig's "Mother" on it, she would more likely cry from happiness. Cuz that's my mom.
