Title: Drawing on Yourself
Post by: Coreh on 18 Mar 2006, 15:37
So I've started like, drawing all over my arm. And some people are telling me I shouldn't. But the way they're talking, they're just saying it because it'll take a long time to wash off.

I'm wondering if like, drawing on myself is harmful to my health or anything.

Here's the finished product.

I used a Uni-Ball Vision rollball pen for that. I don't think they're toxic or lead-based.

This is true. But drawing on my arm makes people look at me all funny and I like that for some reason.

During school, I use the back of my hand to take notes and as a planner and stuff. You can't forget your homework if it's written on your arm. On the weekend, if I'm really bored or it's late at  night, I'll just start drawing on it and everything else.

I once tried colouring my hair with white out during a lecture, it did not work well...

I've spec'd out a tattoo on my leg before. But beyond pranks, notes, and miniature doodles, I typically don't do a whole lot of drawing on flesh. Its too fickle of a medium to work with. ;)

^ yeah, what he said. sometimes i draw proportions on the back of my hand to help me draw hands.

like this:

and

and the result of this:

schoolnotes and hand proportions are my reasons

I have a tendency to sometimes draw on my hand like to make it look like it is robotic. Or sometimes like the skin has been peeled away, revealing viens, and bones etc. Or a combination of the two.

I really like those disighns. You must be pretty bored to spend that long on somthing knowing it will wash of in a day. I draw on my arm a bunch but I really want to try somthing more complex and big like that. I especially like the swirly one. Oh, and nice franz ferdinand t-shirt.[/b]

Drawing on one's self is a nasty habit, but it's awesome to look at.
And unlike most of us (or at least me..) you can actually draw really cool looking things!!

Oh, and yeah, I wouldn't recommend white-out on your hair, but sharpies are actually really cool.  It obviously shows up better on people with lighter hair, but mine is really dark red, and you can see it fine.  When blue catches the sunlight, it looks amazing!

Me and my sisters had a pen fight once - basically you pin each other down and draw on them.

I looked like a human sketchpad. and I had seven nipples.

ah, that sucks that your school is like that...

surprisingly, im not like what people call "emo" or "goth" or anything close to that...(although i can see why people may think that from the comic lol...)

actually the tattoo is far from "suicide art."  it's the way my grandmother used to sign all the letters she wrote to me; "ooooxxxx", so i wanted something that i could always look at and make me feel better about stuff.  the other lines are just some junk i designed to embellish it.

oh and thanks for reading the comic :D
it's still unbeleivable and awesome to think that people i dont even know are actually enjoying it

Ah, well its cool you dont fall under a stereo type.  That genre of comic such as "goth" or whatever wasnt even around till the last 2 decades. So a comics a comic, y'know? And its cool how you can get an idea from your grandma like that. Truly Original...

I draw all over my arms all the time. Most fun thing to do is pinstripe your arm. I did horizontal stripes in red and black from my elbow to the tips of my fingers. I think I have pics of part of it somewhere.

EDIT: I do have a pic! Sadly, it's from the earlier stages, just the hand. (http://img514.imageshack.us/img514/5858/yeaaah0047iv.jpg)

I used to draw fake bracelets around my wrist when I got really bored... I haven't done that since high school, though

Now I mostly stick to doodling on paper

I never used planners during high school, so everything I wanted to remember went on the back of my hand. The palm sweats too much, so it would usually rub off by the end of the day if I wrote on my palm.

Also, every week for about a year, a friend and I would pick a new Word of the Week, and write it on our hands every day. Sometimes we'd also do numbered countdowns to various things, and record them on the backs of our hands.

We were weird kids.
