Here's a list of games coming out sometime this year that I'm somewhat excited to see:
Hitman: Blood Money
Rise of Nations: Rise of Legents
Stargate SG-1: The Alliance
Team Fortress 2
Auto Assault
Neverwinter Nights 2
Stalker: Shadow of Chernobyl
Unreal Tournament 2007
Tabula Rasa
What are you guys waiting for?
-
Neverwinter Nights 2
Reminds me how badly I need to finish the first one.
My list of hopefuls:
Xenosaga 3
Baten Kaitos 2
Final Fantasy 12
Wild Arms 5
RPG hoooooooooor
-
Final Fantasy 11: Treasures of Aht Urhgan
Final Fantasy 12
Shenmue 3 (It will happen, it must.)
-
mmmmmm droool...New Unreal
-
I actually recently just bought the first Neverwinter Nights and I'm trying to finish it before the second one.
And I concur on Shenmue 3. If it doesn't get released ever, I will be very sad.

I'm just hoping that leveling your character is timed better with the storyline in this NWN. I hit 20 way before the end of the game, so it wasn't like I was progressing as I went farther in.
I have to say though a level 20 ranger with a horrendous amount of attacks with both hands is pretty funny. "Hey there's an orc!" attack 30 times before it does, dead. "Hey there's a dragon!" rinse and repeat.
-
Everyone I've played with has told me rangers are horrible, yet I'm pretty sure with dnd I totally had a ranger and kicked some supreme ass with it.
-
Spore
Zelda:TP
Okami
-
Just bought Galactic Civilisations 2, and I highly recommend it if you like space empire sims.
I am interested in:
- Neverwinter Nights 2
- Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (god, who isn't)
- Supreme Commander
- Star Wars: Empire at War
- Warhammer: Mark of Chaos[/list:u]
I'm also thinking about looking into D&D Online, but I'm still a little wary of MMORPGs.
-
A Warhammer game came out and nobody told me. Though, it is that silly fantasy stuff. I have a demo of Star Wars: Empire at War, but I haven't had a chance to play it yet. Man, after April 2nd, all of my problems will go away. Also,
Hitman: Blood Money
Hellz yeah! Though, I don't have contracts yet.

D&D online is an oddball game. They probably wouldn't have stuck it with the MMORPG tag if WoW wasn't out there. D&D online is more like NWN with multiplayer and no single player.
You have to group up to complete most quests which can be fun or a pain in the ass. The mechanics of the game are really interesting where if there is something you think might help, they probably programmed it in. Example: swimming. If you take off your armor you can swim faster and farther. Nobody tells you this so it's pretty funny the first time your group goes for a long swim and one out of five guys makes it.
Overall, I think the game isn't worth it at this time in it's current state. There are only 10 levels so if you really enjoy the game and play it a lot, you can hit level 10 in 2-3 weeks I think. Most MMORPGs have a lot of high end content to keep you busy at the top level and make you rush throught the leveling. D&D online is more about playing through each level and I don't really know if there is much to do once you hit the max level.

Battlefield 2142 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-DnK-d_sp0)

Hmm...
STALKER (Even if it's in "Shit, let's make it somewhat playable to get it out before 2007" state, as THQ is demanding)
Gears of War
Half-Life 2: Aftermath
To be honest, I'm too game-jaded at this point. I like sifting through the detritus of yesteryear and playing awesome games that are more than, oh, 2 years old.

man, ok. I'm gonna paste something from my LJ here because it's pertinent to the conversation:
MARCH 2006 SPACE SIM SHOOTOUT [21 Mar 2006|09:48pm]
CONTENDER #1: GALACTIC CIVILIZATIONS II
CONTENDER #2: STAR WARS: EMPIRE AT WAR
#1 - Galactic Civilizations II
Downloaded this game, played it for a bit, realised it was worth my money. I bought it online and plugged the serial number into the game. Since then have played a bunch more fun games and downloaded a couple of patches that have fixed a few bugs and added a bunch of delicious new spaceship parts for the designer.
#2 - Star Wars: Empire at War
Downloaded this game, installed it. Downloaded the v1.02 patch, ran it. The patch deleted a bunch of files needed to run the game, then exited with the phrase "Unknown Error!". I uninstalled the game, sat cursing at my screen for five minutes, then loaded up Galactic Civilizations II.
WINNER: GALACTIC CIVILIZATIONS II
Star Wars: Empire at War may or may not be a good game for all I know, I couldn't get the fucking thing to work. I'd be very very very pissed off right about now though if I had gone out and bought a legit copy and had that shit happen to me. Seriously wondering whether to try again and try to play it pre-patch so that I can at least see if it's worth my money, or if I should just cut my losses and enjoy GalCiv2 some more.
-
Sounds like the issues I had with the new Lord of the Rings game. Just said... FUCK THAT NOISE and moved on. GalCiv was okay for a while, but nowhere near as expansive as Homeworld 2. Now THAT was my kind of game. Mmm.
Snagged me Oblivion. But I just finished working. And am still setting up a Linux server. So no go till tomorrow, at best.

Duke Nukem Forever!
*edit*
And Daikatana

D&D online is more about playing through each level and I don't really know if there is much to do once you hit the max level.
Make a new character. re-roll. It's the first 10 levels or so that are the fun part.
[edit]...in general. I haven't played dnd online so it depends on how much low level content there is.
-
Is Spore due out sometime so? If so I'll put that on the top of my list. NWN2 I guess, that should be intersting. The only other game that I can think of is RFOnline.
-
I've read some bad things about D&D Online, so I'm taking it off my list retroactively.
I'm not editing my earlier post or anything, so just take it off with your mind.
DO IT.
-
Oh god, I think I missed. Did you really want Empire at War?
-
just want to add:
- Crysis
- Half-Life 2: Aftermath
- Medieval II: TotalWar
- Settlers2: Remake (a graphical update to Settlers 2. Looks good & I liked the original)[/list:u]
there are a few more that look interesting, but nothing that leaps out as a "must get"
-
The remake of Railroads...
