So my boyfriend has been sending me some ska music, which I just love - but both of our collections are somewhat lacking.
Can any of you reccomend some good ska bands?

Jesus, don't say Reel Big Fish are ska- you'll turn away people from it for life! A trumpet doesn't turn your punk into ska, kids.
True Ska:
Prince Buster
The Specials
Desmond Decker
Madness
Toots And The Maytals
Bad Manners
The Upsetters
The Beat
The Selecter
And hellsyeah the Aquabats
-
first of all, i must second the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra. they are quite possibly the best ska band EVER.
for traditional/two-tone type stuff:
The Aggrolites
Westbound Train
Monkey
The Slackers
Hepcat
Desmond Dekker & the Aces
General Rudie
Chris Murray/Chris Murray Combo
Skavoovie & the Epitones
Satori
for third-wave/skacore stuff:
Streetlight Manifesto
Animal Chin
The Planet Smashers
Mephiskapheles
The Suicide Machines
The Flaming Tsunamis
Oi-Skall Mates
The Pietasters
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones
The Mad Caddies
-
Madness. Always, always Madness.
-
I think my fave ones have all been mentioned but here are some I didn't see.
The Mad Caddies
The Toasters
The Flatliners
Rx Bandits
The planet Smashers
Catch 22
and If you can possibly find The Makeshift Heroes and The Johnstones they are fukin A. The makeshift are chillin, laid back, and almost old skool but sound awesome different. The Johnstones are just whack. I think they both have music on Myspace.
