So I saw Tsotsi a little while ago, and I really liked the music... kind of simultaneously heavy and bouncy, especially the song "Mdlwembe" on the soundtrack. I'm not really familiar with what genre it would fit in with; hip-hop doesn't seem entirely accurate. Anybody more knowledgeable on the subject who's willing to direct me to similar things?
Also, searching for Zola in the iTunes music store leads to hilarity.

I need to see that movie! the style of music is called kwaito, btw. I can't get into a lot of it, but I can upload a comp for you if you'd like

of the non-hip hop but sort of like hip hop variations that come from africa, kuduro is the best. comes out of angola sounds kind of like soca or reggaeton on crack

Thanks for the tips, jose! I'll look into it more.
It's a good movie, but extremely difficult to watch...

And whats wrong with LBM?
...are they GRIM? And/or KRIEG?

No.
I quite like them though, from the limited stable of 'world' music I've got into.

oh I thought you were joking, I didn't feel like arguing about it. suffice to say that their music seems rather watered down (and overproduced) to me especially compared to the rest of music the continent has to offer. not that there aren't plenty of others like that (the curse of paul simon?), just that they're not my thing
