Ok, I made this ages ago but it's my first (and favorite) music video that I've made. I made two others but I'm not very proud of them so just tell me what you think of this.
It's a Firefly (the now dead TV show) video set to Rush's "Driven". I'm convinced the song was written for the show.

While the promise of combining pretty much my two favorite things has managed to overcome my natural suspicioun of fan-vids, you haven't actually given us a link to it.
(Also I thought Test For Echo was pretty mediocre, but I think thats just me, nobody else I know seems to think that)

SONOVA...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=UGdLH-LnLS4&search=firefly%20driven it didn't paste the first time. Sorry.

I do believe you had every single bit of action in the show in that video.
Goes to show Firefly was freaking awesome because of the dialogue and characters... with some nice action thrown in.
Very cool video. I don't like Rush, but the editing was well done. (And I'm a video production major! Hah!)

Sweet, thanks! I've learned more now that I've done a couple and I'm working on a new one set this time to "Tom Sawyer". Hope it comes out all right. I added some transitions and whatnot so who knows?
And how could you not like Rush?

Geddy Lee.

Not a big fan of their style. I recognize the skill, but the music gets boring. I blame Tom Sawyer for ruining me on them though. Everyone I know was like, "OMG if you're a big nerd, you HAVE to love Tom Sawyer!"

It's a shallow reason, but it's a reason I guess. Same goes for timehat.
-
It's a valid reason as any to not listen to something. If you don't like the singer's voice, generally you won't want to listen to it. and I certainly wouldn't want tto listen to something I thought was boring. Every time I say I don't like something because I think it's boring, people tell me this isn't a good reason. Of course it's a good reason, I think they're fucking boring and I'm not going to listen to them. It's like shuffleboard. Nobody wants to play it because it's a boring piece of shit game.
I personally really like Rush, by the way.
-
I say that because Rush isn't about the singing. It's about the MUSIC.
-
Yes, but singing is a part of that music, and if a part of that music irritates you, I certainly wouldn't want to listen to it.

Jeff Coffin, Bela Fleck, and Victor Wooten are all excellent musicians...Future Man is a HACK. Yet I still manage to listen to Bela Fleck because the others outweigh the mediocre "drumming".
-
But you're much much more likely to have big issue with the singing than the drumming. I mean, I rarely ever listen to the drumming unless it's like hideously out of place (I'm looking at you, post And Justice for All Metallica).
Also, we're missing the biggest point here: He doesn't listen to Rush because he doesn't want to.
-
Exactly. Except our example is alot nerdier than brocoli.
-
Nerdy is in the eye of the Beholder.
-
And beauty is in the eye of the beerholder....
But seriously, I'm not sure I like the analogy although I get what you're saying.
Think about it: you don't not eat a meal just because one of the foods is broccoli...you just don't eat the broccoli. I learn to hear around or under things that I don't like about a band to hear the good stuff. Just as long as the parts that I don't like aren't TOO bad...[/i]
-
and I'm sure your definition of too bad is different from yours.
What this all boils down to is really, enjoy what you enjoy and leave it at that.
-
and I woud totally eat a raw onion right now if I had one.
See? diversity makes the world go round.
Also, I would totally eat an onion like that. Love onions.
-
Did you all learn something? Because the more you know...
-
I have learned nothing... except that I vow never listen to Rush on the basis that I probably wouldn't like them.
Also it is nerdy, I am not a nerd.

I am.

Ok, I retract my previous statement.
THAT is shallow.
-
As well as completely tongue-in-cheek.

I guess I should have completed that thought: I didn't like Tom Sawyer when I tried it so I really haven't gotten in to them since.

The clips you used were terrific, but, as has been discussed (in detail), the music is not for everyone, and it certainly isn't for me. Vocals feel tired, and I wish the song had been cut 2 minutes shorter.
Wonderful video nonetheless!
-
I know the music isn't for everyone but the only person I need to make happy is me. I basically wanted to know what everyone thought about the editing. And if the music pleases you then all the better.
