Thanks to a couple other forum threads that mentioned it, I recently listened to 'Come On Eileen' for the first time. Now, stop me if I'm wrong, but is every aspect of Hot Hot Heat's music somehow distilled in this song?

Maybe, but Dexy's Midnight Runners are still a far superior band.

I've only ever heard the Skyclad cover actually. I would have mercilessly tracked down their music, as I have done for every other band Skyclad covered, but I got the impression it was kindof a joke cover.

What's wrong with Oui Avant? Bombjour is easily one of my favorite 'Clad songs (Not to mention History Lessens (The Final Examination)

I always preferred the original mix of History Lessens.

Now I think of it, I can't exactly think of any 'clad album that OAGAC is better than, except maybe Semblance of Normality.

But, I mean, it's like picking my least favourite orgasm. Sure, some are better, but they're generally pretty damn fine.

Anyway, Derricks Sunset Sprinters, or whatever they're called...

So you guys are hijacking another thread to talk about Skyclad, huh?  Have you ever thought about starting an actual Skyclad thread?  I think you could have fun with it!

Re: the original question - there are precious few prominent band these days that haven't ripped their sound off from somebody else.  I haven't heard Hot Hot Heat (god that name sucks), but it wouldn't surprise me.

No, see, if  we were to start an actual thread, there would basically be about 3 posts "Yeah, Skyclad is awesome" and then it would die. If we hijack it from another thread, we're comparing it to something else.

Dude, do you know how many times the exact same thing has happened with Belle and Sebastian? About 5 times as often.

No. They really shouldn't.

In the mean time ... The Clan Destined have a demo out (last songs that are going to be sung by Martin Walkyier) and Skyclad have a new EP out.

And Dexi's ... etc ... are probably pretty good.

...then why not just make a thread 'Skyclad vs. music' and use that?
