From page 10 of the Oblivion manual:
Left Click - Equip or use item
Shift + Left Click - Drop selected item
Left Click and Hold Mouse Button - Drop selected item in grab mode

If you're playing on the 360 hopefully the same page will tell you the 360 way to do it.

Hammer away at a whole lot of random buttons until something happens.  That's the way we do it old skool.

Inlander I'd love to play street fighter against you. It'd be a random-special-a-thon of the sort we haven't seen since the nineties.

"Oh shit, how did you do that special attack?"
"I don't know, I don't know!!"

It's well known that the harder you smash the buttons, the more damage you'll do.

Extra points if you punch your opponent in the mouth. While he is looking for something to stop the bleeding, kick his little man's ass.

hey! eat a whole bunch of rat meat!  You gain alchemy skill, plus who the hell gives a damn about losing fatigue? Bleah,  Ohhh--a skeleton kicked my ass cause I had damadged my fatigue! Boohoo!  (Why the hell do the skeletons hiss like snakes in oblivion?)

Man, didn't the skeleton charecter in Killer Instinct make a hissing sound?  I vaugely recall skeletons doing that in several other games or movies.

Also, man.  I've been friggin stuck in a damnable Ayleid ruin on some fighters guild quest for ever now.  Stupid Iron gates.  Stupid buttons that have no discernable affect.  GAH.

just to show what a one-day marathon (even with a seven hour break to go to work in the middle) can do:

this morning, I started a new character. aAn Imperial Male, specifically. born under the sign of the Warrior, using a custom class. favoured attributes: strength and intelligence. favoured skills: armourer, heavy armour, alchemy, mysticism, marksman, blade, restoration.

in the space of one day, this character has joined the mage's guild, been accepted into the arcane university, broken the siege of Kvatch, joined the blades, and hit Journeyman in Alchemy and Heavy Armour.

I have a day off tomorrow...

Alchemy is the best skill EVAH!
Sometimes i think i could play for hours just wandering around, harvesting, and buying ingrediants just to make another potion...

You mean... there's more to the game than picking flowers and turning them into poison?

O MAI TEH GOD!!!

Dammit, I can't find a Journeyman Calcinator anywhere.... you'd think the Arcane University would have better than novice alchemy gear, wouldn't you?

Edit: goddammit, I just need ONE MORE Nirnroot

I even found the one in the sodding well, behind the Cheydinhal Mage's Guild...

I found that nirnroot too!  I felt such a sense of accomplishment.  But I just found 3 around that lake, and that 1, so I'm going to need to wait a few months I guess.

I made it to the mission before Champion in the arena and then got mauled to death by a BEAR.  It was at that point that I felt like I ought to take a little break.  Also: all the Oblivion levels are SO FUCKING SIMILAR.  Shame that so much good lootz are being held by Darth Maul imitators.

Is it weird that I have a collection of shields from every city?

Also: Marksman/Alchemy ftw.

I have a ninroot! I have a ninroot! (But i have no idea where i got it, i just run around harvesting sh*t until i'm over encumbered then I make poisons and use em on my bow, even though it bearly helps the weak assness of my bow.  --also, this dude acosted me at a fort "Money or your life." I was like eh, and gave him money, then i played the personality game, and bribed him like 100 gold.  I fought in the fort, came out and he wanted more!  So i beat him to deat and got all my gold back.  Serves him right.

I wanna collect sheilds too!

then i keep hitting them to watch their bodies jiggle.

i didn't get very far at all, but rolling those logs down the hill onto the goblins in teh training cave was the best thing i've ever experienced.

so.... smearing a poison that does 30 fire damage a second for ten seconds onto my sword  is a waste of time? having a near-inexhaustible source of health potions, buffs, and all sorts of other things?

Poisons are awesome, but you don't get the elemental effect animations like you do with spells. People/things just turn a shade darker, and then die.

Also, spellmaking ftw.

I am guessing that the hissing is the sound a skeleton makes when it tries to draw breath, not realizing that everything that he needs for this endeavor, and everything that actually needs the breath, is gone.

Are you stuck in the middle of a circular tower after fighting some hunters in the maze beneath the tower and killing a big orc with a bigger axe and his archer buddy?  If so, you just need to go back in and get the key from the now unlocked Hunter's break room.
