Title: Hummer "Urban Techno" spot
Post by: tacroy on 08 Jun 2006, 10:09
As much as I dislike Hummers and their client base, the song they use in their "Urban Techno" commercial spot is really catchy.  Anyone know what it is?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing it's the one that Jeph mentioned in his post with comic #636, "Seventeen Years" by Ratatat.  I haven't seen the commercial or heard the song, though.

Thank you very much, JLM.

For anyone else interested, it's the "Sweep Mix" of Tied Up--whatever that means.

ugh.  Can these guys stop trying to be hip?  The Scion ads were painful enough.

Meh, I can't really fault them for using a good song.

Does anyone know of a place to download the sweep remix of the song?  iTunes has the original version, and but I can't seem to find anyway (Torrent, pay site, or otherwise) that has the remix.

As always, help would be appreciated.

"Sunshine and Clouds (and Everything Proud)" by Clap Your Hands Say Yeah (the first of the two instrumental tracks on the album) is also being used in a car ad, over here anyway.

The tune's on the Tied Up single, which I'm sure is still in print.  If you want to buy an MP3, bleep (http://www.bleep.com/) have it but won't let me link directly to the item.  I just punched "tied up" into the search box, came up straight away.

I thrashed the original mix for ... oh, about a WHOLE YEAR when I first heard it.  So punchy and awesome.  Kinda ironic that I bought it chiefly because I was obsessed with Spiritualised.. their mix is beatless and floaty and, well, really boring.
