I have FUCKING PONG IN MY BASEMENT RIGHT NOW! Oh yeah, I am the olde schoole. Coleco's Telco system, and it's pong, with the optional hockey and the 1 player setup where it's you versus a wall. Also the easy, medium and hard levels. It's so bizarre to me, because it's just all dials and switshes and stuff. The only button on the thing is a big rouded, spring loaded reset button. Anyways, it's really kickass and I rock out at it, especially when drunk. Best party game ever.
-
Best game ever? Hardly. First game ever? Possibly (first of note anyways).
First does not equal best, but having Pong in your basement is pretty ace.
-
Hell The Smurfs for colecovision was better than Pong
-
Which Commander Keen game came with Ye Olde Pong included? I think it was #4.
Thus, Commander Keen 4 >> Original pong.
(because, you know, its pong on top of a whole 'nuther cool game)
-
DX-Ball ftw

Oregon Trail 2 > All games.
This thread has died of dysentry.
-
I kind of want to play Pong on a digital projector in my school, Like on one of them huge screens in the auditorium. That'd be freaking sick. Maybe I could set up a charity pong tournament like that?
-

Yay for Ski!
I don't know how I forgot about that one...

I thought it was called skifree?

It probably is.
-
Galaga, one of the few games where the enemy stealing your ship is a good thing
-

It's SkiFree. And yes, I just captured this from my computer.

Hell yeah. I loved me some Commander Keen.
Another awesome old school game: Sam & Max Hit the Road
-
Damn, I want to play SkiFree now!
-

Go forth and download. Relive the goodness.
Oh, and Galaga apparently only goes up to level 99. I got passed it once and it started over at 1. I got to 23 the second time through - 122 total.
*has a working Atari system*
-
I see lots of chit-chat, and not much random shouting of the names of awesome old games.
Loderunner!
-
Oh, God...the first time I got eaten by the abominable snowman I was completely spooked.
Same with those fucking Pac-Man ghosts in the secret level of Ep6 in Wolfenstein 3D.
But...truly...

If I may quote this from IRC:

PS: As for tetris, a grad student from UT who sat next to me in the plane was playing tetris on his gameboy. He made it cool. On the other hand, the Miss WSVG contestants who had no real gaming experience used "Tetris is the only game I'm good at" as an excuse for their "favorite game."
And I'd hate to say it, but "That makes baby Jesus cry."

SimCity 2000 stole a big chunk of my childhood.

SimCity 2000 stole a big chunk of my childhood.
I know what you mean, I spent countless hours trying to make the characters have sex with each other. In any case, it was much easier to commit arson and other petty crimes.

The Sims != SimCity 2k...
-
God, SimCITY? Ugh, that was one of two games playable in my elementary school computer lab.
The other was Rollercoaster Tycoon (sweat).
My mistake :P. HONEST mistake.

You sound suspiciously like my girlfriend. Do I take it you have also removed the stairs from the pool whilst the sims are swimming in order to drown them? Built walls around them to trap them within a 1x1 room until they die from hunger in a pool of their own excretions? EVIL I tells ya.
Though it was fun in Sims 2 when we got a sim swimming around in a concrete floor. Ah, the hilarity.
-
Sonic 3 and Knuckles!
(My grandfather used to have pong on his black and white TV, it was the coolest thing ever.)
-
The Switchblade award for best retro game goes to...

Loderunner!
I have an Apple that my dad bought in '84 - the kind that boots off of 5.25"s - and Lode Runner is probably the game that gets played on that machine the most. It came with 7" greenscreen monitor, but I have it hooked up through a 17" TV so it outputs four colors.
Ahh, the memories.
-
NUCLEAR WAR (http://screenmania.retrogames.com/amiga/01/amiga_0009.html)
WOW.
How does one go about getting a copy of that game?
-
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
And the original (read: monochrome) Falcon flight simulator.
And F-19 Stealth Fighter
And Iron Helix. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Helix)

Metal Slug.
Was Metal Gear on the arcade consoleboxodrome any good?
-
WOW.
How does one go about getting a copy of that game?
The Underdogs, last I checked.
METAL SLUG = WIN x 7
Best co-op game ever. And I include not only Doom but Sven Co-Op in this statement.
Same goes for Metal Slug 2 through 4.

JILL OF THE JUNGLE! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jill_of_the_Jungle)
RAPTOR! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raptor:_Call_of_the_Shadows) (Oh the carnage)

The Underdogs, last I checked.
Seriously? *runs to underdogs*
RAPTOR! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raptor:_Call_of_the_Shadows) (Oh the carnage)
I know the guys who made that game (acquaitences.) They're out in Chicago. They changed the name of their company to Mountain King Studios, and they're still developing cool shooters. You gotta download Juno:Nemesis; I don't much like the gameplay, but then it's based on Tempest and I didn't like that game either. Thing is, the look of the graphics will fry your brain.
-
KINGS QUEST
I played this.
"Heir Today, Gone Tomorrow," in fact. Not a bad game. It was just scary when the dwarf things threw you into the ocean... urg...
-
CHIP'S CHALLENGE
-
Asteroids. Can't forget about asteroids.
-
KINGS QUEST
You win.
-
Is, um....is "Fucking Pong" better than the first Pong? It sounds like more fun, but you never know.
-
Oh, and....BIONIC COMMANDO.

STARCRAFT
SECRET OF MANA
EARTHBOUND
TEAM FORTRESS CLASSIC
Also, please explain this "Underdogs." I want that game so hard.
-
Is, um....is "Fucking Pong" better than the first Pong? It sounds like more fun, but you never know.
It's awesome. You have two naked people projecting the ball between each other via vigourous pelvic thrusts.

Oooo! Sounds spiffy.
But...perhaps slightly risky for your average male, what with his "one weakness" right out there in the middle of his playing surface. I suppose, with enough practice, he could learn to use his mighty penis as a bat-type instrument! Oh, the mind boggles.
....what? Why are you looking at me like that?
