My boyfriend (he's actually on this forum as casull, so let's hope he doesn't see this) and I are celebrating our six month (shut up, it's an amazing feat for me...) anniversary a few days after he gets back from a three-week bike trip (which he left for yesterday). I need cheesy, romantic, indie/quirky/classic rock songs. I have a lot already, but variety is the spice of life. And let's just say what I have right now is table salt. Any suggestions would be great.
Some songs I've got, but I'm not so sure I'll use yet:
"You've Escaped" - Aloha
"Like Someone In Love" - Bjork
"Where is My Love?" - Cat Power
"Unintended" - Muse
"How I Love You So" - Don McLean
"Look For Me (I'll Be Around)" - Neko Case
-
"Knot Comes Loose" My Morning Jacket
"Thirteen" Big Star
"Dance All Night" Ryan Adams
"A Spy in the House of Love" the dBs
"Love Goes On!" The Go-Betweens
"Sheila Take a Bow" The Smiths
"Between the Bars" Elliot Smith
"I'd Run Away" The Jayhawks
"Instant Street" dEUS
"Linger Longer" The Clean
"Just Like You" Roxy Music
"Get Behind Me" Scott Walker
"Sweet Thing" Van Morrison
-
Iron & Wine - Love and Some Verses
Emiliana Torrini - Sunny Road
those are my two suggestions :-)
-
Cat Stevens - I've Found a Love - This one is pretty much required. Like, you can ignore the rest of them. But get this one. SRSLY
Against Me! - I Still Love You Julie
Bob Dylan - Meet Me in the Morning or Emotionally Yours
Leonard Cohen - Suzanne
The Cure - Mint Car
-
God Only Knows - Beach Boys - get this one, nothing is as corny and sweet as this.
The Cure - Lovesong
The Boy Least Likely To - Be Gentle With Me
Architecture in Helsinki - Do The Whirlwind
-
romantic
Gimme Dat Nut by Eazy E
-
Car - Built To Spill
Sweet Avenue - Jets To Brazil
Transatlanticism - Death Cab For Cutie
The Word Homophobic Is Gay - Anal Cunt*
*(Use of this song may or may not be a good idea)
-
"The Reasons" by the Weakerthans.
"...Off By Heart" by City & Colour. (the "u" is part of the name)
"Wishful Thinking" by Wilco.
That's what I suggest.
-
Words cannot discribe - Mirah
everyone loves female indie artists singing 20s swing songs
-
Actually, DO get Anal Cunt - I wanna Grow Old With You. Seriously.
-
"We Both Go Down Together"- The Decemberists
-
Brazilian Girls -- Pussy.
I mean subtlety -- who needs it?
-
Thanks for your help, everyone. Keep those suggestions comin'!
-
la vie un rose - louis armstrong
-
Not the most romantic song to use, but it does fit anniversaries well.
The Walkmen - Another One Goes By
-
Ramones - I wanna be your boyfriend and She's the one. GO RAMONES
-
Emiliana Torrini - Sunny Road
Thank you so much for this. I may not use this song, but it led me to an even better Emiliana Torrini song I'd never heard before. I suggest anyone who likes her to go download "The Boy Who Giggled So Sweet."

In the spirit of being blatantly obvious, how about Anniversary Song by the Cowboy Junkies?
