i am pretty sure that the search for good tabs on the internet is almost as difficult as trying to find the holy grail, so this may be a pointless post. but there is still a very small part of me that wants to believe that it's possible. i have been lazy with guitar for the past year or so, and now i am starting to WANT to learn, which is a good start. i can't learn by ear and i have no money for lessons. so, which websites do you use to find decent tabs?
thanks,
meag.

Googling works best for me. There really isn't a site that I use more than anything since MXTabs got shut down.

i use 911tabs.com, which is a site that searches other sites for tabs. it's pretty good. i miss mxtabs, though.

The risk with tabs is always going to be that some of them are total bullshit.
Can you work things out with your ears? Because if you can do it for anything, you should practice that, it'll be much more helpful than playing from tabs.

http://tabcrawler.com/archive.php
http://www.guitartabs.cc/
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com

www.tabopolis.com
Not because they have the widest selection, but because their tabs are generally spot-on.

I use 911tabs. As stated above, it works nicely.

this is true, but tabs can be a helpful starting point if you're completely lost on something.

Well yeah, I started on tabs myself, I just mean if you have ability to use your ear instead or in tandem, then do so.

In tandem is the way to go for me. I can work things out pretty well by ear but it is pretty time-consuming; I prefer to work from tab if it's available to me. It's just important to be able to tell if it's wrong!
I usually use ultimate-guitar.com, and I've posted some Fiery Furnaces tabs there.

My friend has told me that http://www.olga.net/ has a decent library, but as I looked at the site to double check the link, I see they are down for legal reasons :/ Sad times :(
I use www.basstabarchive.com for bass tabs.

Ultimate-Guitar is a great site, lots of power tabs and suchnot now. www.mikesguitarsite.co.uk used to be amazing, but it might've been hit by lawyers.
