I really like the Dropkick Murphys, and Bad Religion is pretty good too. They're playin' here in Vancouver in the PNE Forum for 35 bucks (which is slightly pricier than I would like.. it's like a buck cheaper than the BSS concert...) but I'm really torn whether I should go or not! I do not have a happy crowd of friends which would protect me, and I am afraid that it could get insanely rowdy and I shall be walking out of the venue with no teeth. Give advice to this 5'2 asian girl please :(

got any killer boots?
if you have any killer boots, wear them and use them to defend yourself.
-
Go! Have fun! Relax! You won't get hurt...
Mind you, when I was in LA last week, someone got stabbed and killed at a show (damned skinheads...), but that was outside the venue, not inside, so you don't gotta actually worry at the show proper.
-
I say go. Bad Religion are awesome. Dropkick Murphys are too.
If possible get drunk beforehand. Sober Dropkicks wouldn't be right.
-
Haha I think I'll take it sober. Anybody know what sort of material they'd be playing on this tour? Because I'm not familiar with Bad Religion at all. What would be their important albums?
-
All I say is go and get drunk, I mean I was at a bad religon show awhile ago and I'm not a huge fan but I got drunk and enjoyed myself to the highest degree, I'm assuming the Dropkick's would be similar in this regard.
-
Go to Dropkick, you'll have way more fun.
-
It was my understanding that they're playing together... I thought
-
I cast my vote to go, you got friends to watch your back, and though the last two concerts I've been to were Death Metal not err whatever DKM and BR are things would go crazy but even if people got knocked down and what not they would get picked right back up again, besides you got friends who will have your back.
-
I say you go. I've never seen blatant unprovoked violence at a show around here. I would go to if I had any money at all.
-
Yep! They are playing the same show.
**pats Rubby** :(
I seem to have only one friend who's coming along with me o_o I guess I'll have to befriend fellows once I get there! But yeah, Rubby- you're right. Blatant unprovoked violence doesn't just seem to happen around here in Vancouver. Of course two folks were shot in a club a month or so back. But those are clubs, and the PNE Forum has bleachers for god's sake!

How Could Hell Be Any Worse?, Suffer, No Control, Against the Grain, and Generator are generally regarded as the definitive Bad Religion albums. the more recent stuff they've done since the return of Mr. Brett hasn't been too bad, either. just stay away from The Grey Race, No Substance, and The New America. and don't bother with Into the Unknown, unless you want a good laugh.

Was that at Richards? I think I heard about that.
Still, I wouldn't worry about it.
-
Yeah, that was at Richards, and if I remember correctly, they are no longer going to be holding rap concerts are Richards because of this.
-
Definitely go. You shouldn't be in any danger of getting hurt, if that's your major concern. I saw the Dropkicks and the Casualties in the Avalon in Boston on St. Patty's day two years ago and it was peachy keen (keep in mind that this is their hallmark show every year). Sure, I volunteered to join in the mosh, but you don't have to; and besides at these shows, even the people who seem to be beating the shit out of each other are really looking out for one another.
-
Also, I'll back you up coonstar.
If anyone harms you I'll come and kick them!
Arr!
-
Alright guys! I made a decision. I bought my ticket :O
Anyone else comiiiiiing?
Sankyuu Mister ImRonBurgundy?- I shall be checking out more Bad Religion albums. I'm only really familiar with Against the Grain, and damn it's a good album.
-
SUFFER!!!
Get Suffer!!!
Edit: And Generator!!! Get Generator!!!
-
There are no important Bad Religion albums.
Just some catchy songs.
-
I thought about going for a bit, but no. Instead I'll be going to Cat Power, more than likely Wolf Parade, and more than likely Dragonforce.
-
If you're at all a stuck up prick like myself, don't go... or leave after Bad Religion if they play first.
I went to a Dropkick show, and while I love their music, the sound was horribly disfigured and the asshats around me in the second level (non mosh pit...) started moshing. I cussed one of the fuckers out and left. I enjoyed the Tossers enough to call it even.
-
How the hell do you mosh to that?
-
I went to the Misfits with my mate. We both dressed like total indie pussies. Sweaters, tight black jeans, the whole thing
We moshed and had a blast
i mean they weren't the REAL Misfits, but if thats what this is like it should be fine

WHAT
DRAGONFORCE IS COMING?
What venue?
Man. Sometimes I want to be 19. And sometimes I don't want to be.
-
Croation Cultural Centre, so it's perfectly fine for us minors!
-
Man I feel bad for you guys.
I can’t recall a show I've been to for quite some time that wasn't 19+.
-
Come to think of it, if I was nineteen, I'd probably be pretty broke! Being a minor forcecs me to not splurge on zem shows (because there's never enough!) so instead I just watch one every 4 months on average or whatever.
Man! I might be going to Dragonforce then.
-
What is this "might"? There is not might in the phrase "I will go to Dragonforce".
*Slaps coonstar*
Do you get me?
-
Hey! What's up with you, and what kind of kicks do you get out of slapping innocent women?
Anyway. As much as the idea of POWER METAL and seeing the band who's soloing guitar man got stuck in his amp/geetar/whatever is pretty awesome, I actually don't like Dragonforce that much! All their songs sound the same to me, and people whom I am trying to avoid are there (no! I am not trying to avoid a subculture, just some individuals).
Plus! It's on a school night.
So yes. Might.

Do you get me?
It's a simple prospect. You go to the show. Your face gets rocked clean off. You see life differently.
It's not whether you enjoy DF particularly. It's so you can say you've seen them and you've rocked out. If you don't go and the people you know went and tell you it was amazing you'll regret it. Therefore logic dictates that you should go.
As for DKM & BR; go also. They're both good.
We never get any decent internationals here so I'm hellishly jealous.
-
dropkick murphys may have been worth seeing six years ago if you were 15, but i wouldn't worry about it now.
bad religion has always been a pile of shit.
-
HOMG things even got more complicated.
I think I can only afford to go to two concerts on Sept, and I'm definitely going to the Dropkicks/Bad Religion. You may not like them, but I do. And I already have my tickets.
Now. To decide between Dragonforce and Final Fantasy.
Final Fantasy I haven't heard, but all my other friends completely advice going to it, and it's only 15 bucks. Dragonforce is 20+ticketmastercharge bucks because Zulu doesn't have tickets of that show! Yargh. Plus, Final Fantasy is performing *right* on my campus!
CIENO IS TORN.
-
dragonforce. hands down. but then again i've never heard final fantasy. but still.
-
See here, I'm not huge on Dragonforce! I find them immensely repetitive. Convince me otherwise!
-
Final Fantasy!
HAIL SATAN!
-
Dragonforce ARE mindlessly repetitive. Still, they're fun, so I would probably see them for 20 bucks.
-
666 posts rubby!
hey man, if you like final fantasy more AND they're playing on your campus, i see no reason why not to go. it seems like a no brainer. plus it's more economical, and college students don't have all that much money.
-
Isn't Final Fantasy only 12 or 13 bucks? I swear that's what they were when I was at Zulu today. Anyway, I'll be at both Dragonforce and that for sure. And Cat Power as well, I'll be grabbing my ticket for that tommorrow.
-
WENT TO DROPKICK MURPHYS/BAD RELIGION TODAY.
Not my usual type of music, but MAN, an experience worth savouring. It was ridiculously great if you erase the terrible opener band from one's memory (ew. myspacey los angeles band named Clit 45. Icky. how the fook did they get on this tour?). But yeah, Bad Religion is just ace.
Yes, I did go to Dragonforce too.
I can't decide which one my face got rocked off more.
-
You're welcome.
-
if I wasn't in fucking china you know I'd be at that dropkick/bad religon show, sounds like a blast.
wow i'm drunk
-
Bananacore, all the way!
Actually, I think that's just something we made up while drunk one night (had it at least been "applecore" it would have made some sense).
Also, "mediocore"...
