I'm looking for advice, help, or guides for making plush dolls. I am setting out to make a bacteriophage and/or cell plush doll thing. Please, advise away.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but microscopic organisms have already been made into plush toys.

It reminds me of the episode of Northern Exposure when Chris in the morning decides that he wants to fling a cow from a cataput (or would that be a cowapult?), but has second thoughts when he finds out that Monty Python did the same thing years earlier and since he wants to be original, he decides to fling a stand-up piano (which ended up being a really cool)

Two things to mention.  First, ThinkGeek does not sell any "bacteriophage" plushies, so in that detail, you are orginial. Second, any good fabric store will have patterns and instructions on how to make a plush doll.  (And most do not have good websites...so you'll have to hoof it)

I'm currently making some plush stuff.  It's fun!  I am still learning though, so I am not sure I can be of much help other than to say that you would usually plan out your pattern & then sew it up mostly inside-out.  You'd then stuff the thing with filler, and loosely sew up the remaining stuffing-hole you left, then tighten the hole up.

I'm going to be searching around for good online guides soon.  If I find any I'll link them in here, ok?

ok ok.  so i know that this is probably pretty lame, but i'm going to link you to the craftster.org forums that people talk about plush toys and so forth in, because craftster.org is goddamn awesome & i can't really find a better resource that isn't totally geared towards selling you things.

hope they help.  I'm still going through them at the moment, but if they are anywhere near as helpful for plush toys as I've seen them be for Heather's knitting i am sure everything will be a-ok
