(On a sidenote, are there any other great Firefox extensions I'm missing out on?)
Tabbrowser preference (https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/158/)
Allows much more control over your tabs
Imageshack right click (http://reg.imageshack.us/content.php?page=extension)
Allows you to upload things to imageshack with a right click basically
-
Firefox, yo.
-
Firefox at home, IE anywhere I don't have access to FF.
-
When I have a choice, it's all about Firefox.
-
I love Firefox, more so because I can customize it and make it look purdy...I have a nice, classy black and silver theme going on right now...
so for the rest of you that use Firefox, what extensions do you rock? I have a few, my favorite of which include FoxyTunes (it's a remote control app for your media player that sits in the bottom corner of the browser window) and then there's the absolutely useless but completely fun "Anti-Paranoia" which randomly pops up a little window in the bottom corner that says things like "Don't panic! Everything is fine." It makes my browsing happy
-
Extensions that I am currently using:
- Download Manager Tweak
- Tabbrowser Preferences
- Download Statusbar
- Flashblock
- Adblock Plus
- Fasterfox
- Remove It Permanently
- View Formatted Source
- Web Developer
- Bookmarks Synchronizer SE SiteBar Edition
- VideoDownloader
- Greasemonkey
Hurr!
-
Well I voted Firefox but I mainly use Mozilla suite.
But that option wasn't included so I went with my second choise.
-
Firefox user?
Then get Stumble! And AllPeers!
They're the neatest fire fox extensions I've had the pleasure of using!
-
Firefox, baby. Sorry, IE, but I needs me some tabs.
-
Opera9 and also Firefox with several extensions (among them Adblock and VideoDownloader) for some quick browsing, because my Opera opens ~30 pages by default.
-
In order by frequency of use:
Safari (nightly build)
Omniweb 5.5rc1
Safari
Camino (nightly build)
Firefox (whatever the hell version I have installed)
-
Firefox all the way!!!
-
I use all three. Firefox, IE and Opera.
-
Safari. I frequently switch to Camino or Shiira or something for a while, but Safari is the browser I always come back to.
-
Good old Firefox. :)
-
Safari. What's with the ended poll?
-
Like most everyone else, Firefox.
-
Firefox.
-
Im using Bon echo. (Firefox 2.0!)
-
What about Avant? Nobody ever uses Avant.
-
What about Avant? Nobody ever uses Avant.
It's based on IE. Automatic fail for anyone that doesn't hate web designers ;)
-
I used avant before I met Firefox. Avant is nice, but FF so much better IMO.
-
Firefox!
My other browser is your mum.
-
Opera.
I just like not having to manually check for new email.
-
Opera is my browser of choice. I could use Firefox, but I find Opera to be faster, and for some reason, I just prefer it. And I don't even use a lot of the built-in features like torrent downloader, contacts, e-mail, notes, chat etc. I've customized it quite a bit, so that the stuff I don't use is gone, and it's now exactly the way I like it. I don't really know why I don't use a lot of the built-in features, because they all work just fine, but I guess in my head there's still this little voice saying "a browser is a browser". Might have to try and change that later on.
Also, I've read that Opera is more secure than Firefox (don't remember where, so don't quote me on this and certainly not fight me on it, because I can't really trust my source when I don't remember what it was), which wouldn't surprise me, because 1) Firefox has more users and 2) Firefox is open source, which isn't a bad thing, I guess, but the securty holes are more "out there". Plus, Opera is Norwegian, which is never a drawback, but by far not the only reason I've been using it for the last couple of years.
-
What? Teh Ladybug is a Norwegian? Ah, the surprises this place holds. I greet you from the cold =)
Now, back on topic! I am one of the few with Opera (as it's Norwegian and a part of the whole Norway nerd pride), Firefox and IE installed, and still using IE. Yes, indeed. I've used IE for as long as I can remember. The day my computer explodes as a cause of the massive lack of security in IE, I will probably stay away from it. But as that hasn't happened, and I'm protecting my computer well enough, it's still my browser of choice.
Firefox is used now and as well though, but Opera's just there for show. For now...
-
Ah, another Norwegian? Cool. How do you cope without tabbed browsing? Or do you use IE7? Opera took me a little while to get used to, but now I love it and couldn't live without it :p
I sometimes wish that I still had IE available, though, because certain stuff only works in IE, and it annoys the hell out of me. I'm considering using BootCamp and installing XP, just so that I can watch football matches/summaries and broadcasts from my hometown online.. Shouldn't be necessary, but ah well.
-
Firefox's IE tab: pwns. It can do anything IE can do and I don't have to open IE. It's been a long time since I've used IE.
I love FF because of its customizability. Extensions and add-ons make for a nicer browsing experience. The mighty adblock is the one I like most. I use it not only on ads, but on the damn seizure inducing avatars. And any other images that annoy me.

The inbuilt email is precisely why I prefer Opera to any of the other browsers I've come across. It's nice not having to either install a separate mail notifier or check every half hour.
-
Firefox. Yay!!!
-
Firefox with Chatzilla, No Script, Fasterfox and Sage RSS reader.
-
FF all the way, baby.
-
Firefox 2.0
Integrated spell check, I am amazed.
-
Firefox rox my sox.
-
I used Flock 0.5 for a while, but 0.7 removed all the useful features, so I've since gone back to using Firefox. And, as a bonus... all the extensions work!

Shitfox crashes like nothing else can.
-
Infrequently?
-
Wishful thinking.
-
I can genuinley say I've never had it crash. But then, I've never had a browser that crashed. Were you running hundreds of extensions?
I've just installed firefox 2.0, haven't seen any differences so far, apart from the skin, but I like how all my extensions and bookmarks crossed over automatically.
-
16 extensions. Probably too many, but hey, they are required to make the browsing experience nice.
-
Firefox 2.0 had the nifty feature of suggesting things you may be searching for, in a predictive-text kind of way. However, when it comes up with things like this, it makes me want to reinstall opera:
Ignore the fact that I have searched for gogo dancers in the past.
-
I removed that search box from my browser window.
-
At work I'm stuck with IE6.
At home I have FF. But I'm an idiot and can't figure out how to have links automatically open in tabs rather than a new browser, and I don't use any extensions, 'cause I didn't know that there were any, and it never shuts up about using WMP as the default video player whenever I'm trying to watch porn online videos.
-
It's been said before, but I'll say it again:
INTEGRATED SPELL CHECK HOORAY NO MORE LESS EMBARRASSMENT!
So yeah, I downloaded Firefox 2.0 today and I think it's great. No longer must I hesitate and wonder if "embarrassment" has 1 R or 2.
-
You poor non-Mac users. It's like you're living in a third world country that just got running water. "You just turn these things and water comes out! Incredible!"
Sorry, couldn't help myself.
-
Sure, it took us a long time to get working taps, but at least it's not all we have. We have wine too, and great food.
I suck at analogies.
-
What about Avant? Nobody ever uses Avant.
i use it, i'm using it right now. so far, it's been kicking firefox's ass all over the place, at least for me. after this, it's maxthon, firefox, opera, IE, Heatseek :P
-
Why do you hate web developers so much, Dimmukane? :P
-
Why do you hate web developers so much, Dimmukane? :P
?
I haven't run across a web page that won't work perfectly on it...it runs on IE framework, so if a page works in IE (just about all of them), then it works in Avant. I do believe it passed the acid test...as far as I know, it's the least of web dev worries. Maybe you're thinking of the older Avant?
-
It's based on IE, that's the problem. IE is the worst thing to happen to the web since Netscape 4. The reason so many pages work in it is because of hours of painful working around problems on the part of any web designer trying to do something complex.
-
well, which browser requires the least amount of effort from web devs? not like i'm gonna switch, but i'd like to know.
-
Firefox, Safari, and Opera are all quite good (as is anything based on them; Flock, Omniweb, etc...). Each has its quirks, but in general they're relatively minor quirks (a few examples: firefox doesn't support display:inline-block;, opera 8 doesn't support the CSS DOM apis, safari has some issues that prevent most web rich text editors from working with it).
IE7 was a huge improvement in web standards support from IE6, so at the very least make sure you're using something based on it. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens on the web as it becomes common.
-
I dunno, I develop shit based on CSS+XHTML, and it renders quite well in IE6/7, FF1/2, Opera... (I'll never touch OS X, so I can't talk about the OS X-only browsers.) No hacks required. But, then again, I'm not trying to do crazy things with a browers. Note to people: a browser is NOT an application deployment mechanism!

http://www.positioniseverything.net/ie-primer.html <-- an example (also see background-attachment:fixed, :hover on anything but <a>, or translucent PNG support).
