does anybody know how to repair a ps2? i checked a bunch of different sites and it didn't works ;>.>
my problem is that my spindle doesn't seem to have enough power to spin the disk.... like, it spins where there is no disc, but when i put a disc in it spins like 1/50th of a spin,
any ideas on what to do that doesn't involve spending money? :D

Wrong forum.
I'd say that you either have to spend cash on repairs, or spend even more on an electrical engineering degree. That's pretty nonstandare brokenness.

PS2s are renowned for their dodginess. they always stop working after a period of time which (suspiciously) matches the length of your warranty.

well.... accually the warranty on it ran out years ago ;>.> so it's been pretty good to me ^_^

I've had to crack my PS2 open a couple times when it hasn't worked, but I've never encountered the problem you're talking about. I had a problem where it would make a clicking noise when it would spin and no game would run. I opened it up and found - I shit you not - earwax and a piece of toenail inside the machine's gears. Got that shit cleaned up and BAM good as new.
I guess my advice is to crack it open, check everything out and see if anything unusual appears in the machine.

I always hear this, but neither my PS nor my PS2 ever gave me any trouble. And I played em hard.

It was mainly the 1st gen of PS2s. To hear some of the folks on forums who worked in retail at the time of it's release some of them had a near 50% return rate on the console. They fixed most of the problems it's 2nd or 3rd wave.
It was actually bad enough Sony lost a civil suit concerning it.
