Title: Amazon recommendations are strange...
Post by: Will on 08 Oct 2006, 12:14
I just had this show up in my inbox from Amazon:

Quote
Dear Amazon.com Customer,

We've noticed that customers who have expressed interest in Around the Fur by Deftones have also ordered Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols by The Sex Pistols.  For this reason, you might like to know that The Sex Pistols's Never Mind the Bollocks Here's the Sex Pistols is now available...

Am I wrong in being a little confused as to exactly what the similarity is between these two groups?

That's nothing. I clicked on the 'I own this' box for the Arctic Monkeys album and got recommended some bullshit book by Paul McKenna or some shit. I'm now worried about the path my music taste my take me down.

Devious (http://www.emigroup.com/NR/rdonlyres/31B50C8B-513A-4EFA-835B-54EE806E32A3/633/SoundValues2006.pdf) indeed.

Tommy's right, though. I've only heard a few Dischord albums but whatever you were planning on buying they are probably a better purchase. Maybe that's because I've only heard albums by Fugazi and Q and Not U, but nevertheless.

They once recommended a blender to me because I had NHL06 on my wish list.

I think Amazon just recommends whatever they happen to have a surplus of. That's the only thing that makes sense to me.

This is where we talk about suggestions which aren't helpful.

How is a blender useful to a hockey video game?

I believe Johnny was stating an opinion that the best use of the hockey game mentioned is as an object to be blended, therefor a blender would be needed if one was not already in your possesion.
