Okay. As far as I can tell, alot of QC readers are oblivious to the existence of what may possibly the MOST AWESOME INDIE STATION IN THE UNIVERSE!!!!!
So. its called WOXY.COM and its tailor-made for this community. The music is bleeding edge, as in, its old to them three weeks before the album comes out, so you're constantly hearing new stuff. They have live DJs who are totally chill, non-pretentious dudes who just love music. This station has been kicking out the jams for more than two decades, first as 97X in Cincinatti, OH. When the broadcast license was sold in 2004, they thought they were done, but as the station staff were packing their cars in the parking lot after the sign off, somebody literally showed up with a suitcase full of money and Woxy came back two months later as an internet only outfit. They rocked out like this for two awesome years, until it became apparent that they just couldn't get out of the red, even after adding a better-quality subscription-only stream. Thus, on Sep 15 of this year, The Future of Rock n Roll went off the air again, for the last time.
Or not. I swear to god a week later this dude shows up on the still functioning Woxy boards and says, "hey, I'm Bill Nguyen, I run this little service called lala.com, and I wanna buy the station." We were all like "Yeah, right". And then he did and we were all like "Nahhhhh.......".
So, holy shit, Woxy.com BAM!!! THE FUTURE OF ROCK N ROLL is back!!! So come on QC pplz. This was so huge I had to finally join the boards and say something. So quit staring and check it out. WOXY.COM and QC listeners are a perfect fit. In a sea of corporate crap, Woxy is truly an independent voice for alternative music. You'll all love it, it'll change your life, I swear!! :mrgreen:

Yeah, so can I. But iTunes doesn't have the personal touch, and it won't ever play the new TV on the Radio single before its available on iTunes. Yeah, I love my collection, and its huge and high-quality, but I'm ADD and always need my fix of new music and this is my source. Plus WOXY has live lounge acts in their studios of unsigned bands. Music doesn't get any fresher than this.
WOXY Trivia: Dustin Hoffman repeated WOXY's tagline--"97X--Bam! The Future of Rock & Roll"--over 70 times in the movie Rainman.

Yeah, I know. I meant corporate as in corporate RADIO. You know, the guys who'll never play TVotR no matter how big they get because they don't fit their definition of "popluar music". *cough* Clear Channel *cough* Cumulus *cough*.

I think a lot of peopel here are familiar with WOXY. In fact, I first learned of WOXY.com on these very boards well over a year ago.
That being said, it’s good to hear that WOXY’s back online. I’ve gotten into a lot really good bands because of that station.

Yeah. American radio is horrible. I won't go into it much, but the situation is absolutely dismal. They play the most generic and demeaning crap and then they play it to death. WOXY is like manna from heaven here.

Yeah, I love WOXY. Good stuff, for real. I find out about a lot of the music I listen to from listening to it.
