Comming into here I knew of a few bands, like The Flaming Lips and Modest Mouse, but there are so many others that are awsome.
Teenage Bottlerockets, Sonic Youth, Sleater-Kinney, Wolf Parade, and many others!

Thank you for opening my eyes to such great music.

Anyother reccomendations? :laugh:

listen to some rational youth (http://www.rationalyouth.ca/). probably the best canadian retro synthpop band who think they're german and it's still the 80s, ever.

the album 'cold war night life' is fantastic.

They remind me of Oasis, with a little bit of Third Eye Blind and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones thrown in for good measure, and they pull it off marvelously.
