Title: Circle Jerk+YSI+Spaceman Genocide
Post by: SeanBateman on 02 Dec 2006, 05:36
This is a thread where Genocide Jones and E.Spaceman talk about music and possibly put up downloadable links so you dudes can listen to music on the computers and talk about it with us.

Mostly it is gonna be us talking about how good/cute Ryan Adams is.

Kieffer uploaded Ryan Adam's Heartbreaker to start things

I think this is his second best album and quite a good listen.

I think the best track on here is probably come pick me up, but every once in a while I can't help but fall in love with In my Time of Need. It's just really really heartfelt.

I don't know, i've always been fond of 'to be young..' and 'oh my sweet carolina', which features vocals by the incredible emmylou harris.

Man I am pretty much in Love with Emmy Lou. I saw her at a festival in SF, a free country thing, and it was basically amazing. She has such a spectacular voice, and man she is still beautiful for a 50 year old woman. I love her on I'm Wide Awake, too

Speaking of alt country though, and since I know you're a wilco fan.

This (http://www.sendspace.com/file/i0z5o4) is a whole bunch of awesome Wilco B sides and rarities that carries through summerteeth. It's got a couple of live tupelo songs, some really good alternate versions, and a couple you've never heard.

and since we are on a ryan adams roll, here is Pneumonia (http://www.sendspace.com/file/r927kf), the last album the whiskeytown did, it's quite good i think.

Well well, i think there is no better way to solve this argument than with a fresh link, this time to yet more ryan adams, in the shape oof whiskeytown's first recorded but never released album, Those Weren't The Days (http://www.sendspace.com/file/16o4hl)

Except I'm serious. Considering this is a thread with "circle jerk" in the title and YouSendIt as a main component, I figured someone here would at least be able to help me find a track with which to get into the Circle Jerks.

In that case I don't give a shit about the Circle Jerks anymore. The Meat Puppets, The Minutemen and Husker Du ftw.

Holy shit E. This is really fucking good. I'll get Faithless street up later for sure, but this is real good. 2 of these tracks are already on faithless street though, and I think my heart is broken I've heard SOMEWHERE I just can't figure out where it was. Luxury Liner and 10 Seconds to The End of The World are both great.

I'd put up some Hold Steady, but i'd rather people buy the albums and give the band money

Christine Fellows (http://senduit.com/114123) Is a not so pretty girl from canada who writes really really pretty songs that are kind of sad. This is my way of steering us away from country a little bit but not as much as I need to for full accessibility. I just really like country music, sorry dudes. Souvenirs and Departures/Arrivals are my favourites, but most of them are good.

Camper Van Beethoven, II&III (http://www.sendspace.com/file/kt6usu)

I really like this band a whole bunch, and this might be my favourite album of theirs. Dunno how to classify it really, it's just straight up good music, kinda weird in some places, definately interesting.

Title: Re: Circle Jerk+YSI+Spaceman Genocide

Tommorrow I'll upload some more Springsteen.  Born To Run is easily the most essential, but I'm a far bigger fan of Darkness On The Edge Of Town, and The Wild The Innocent And The E Street Shuffle.  I also consider Nebraska and Greetings From Asbury Park, NJ to be right on par with Born To Run.  Really though, Springsteen has not released a bad album.  He's put out three or four that aren't great, but they've still been good.  Pretty much the most consistent discography ever.

Post by: Johnny C on 14 Dec 2006, 11:43
Darkness... is probably my favourite Springsteen record, but I don't have a copy of it. Born To Run is absolutely killer though, and the remaster makes it sound really vital again.

God I would kill for an upload of Nebraska. I only have it on Vinyl, and I keep wanting to listen to it in my car.

I think I am gonna upload a Joe Strummer and the Mescalero's album, or maybe something else because emilio has just told me that he is familiar with them already.

Mhmm I am gonna upload pinebender instead.

Pinebender, Working Nine To Wolf.

Really fucking good, spaced out madhouse music. I do not know how to describe them other than saying that they didn't do anything for me at all at first, but they keep growing on me. The first time I listened to the first song I kept thinking the track had changed, then they would go back into a motif from earlier in the song and I would be all  :-o :-o

Do you like pretty songs sung by pretty girls about pretty things? Do you like either the Ditty Bops, Her Space Holiday, or even the postal service but wish Ben Gibbard wasn't such a whiny cock? You may like Au Revoir Simone! (http://www.sendspace.com/file/2utjg6) That is a link to their second album, The Bird of Music.

Seriously, I still think deerhoof is kind of boring. But here's two presents.

#1 is the new Of Montreal Hissing Fauna, Are you the Destroyer (http://senduit.com/0b2977)

And this is a dude named Pantha du Prince www.sendspace.com/file/k32ku3

Here's a snap review of it that I think is hilarious. The album is really really good and pretty.
Quote
Pantha Du Prince proves that mixing up house and indie doesn?t have to result in MSTRKRFT. ?This Bliss? promises a melancholy mood with feet in both camps: Detroit and minimal vs. My Bloody Valentine and psychedelia (Weber even rejigged the eighties jangle-pop of the Chills? ?Pink Frost? for the dancefloor on ?Diamond Daze?). Weber looks outside the pop canon for inspiration too on the album: the track ?Moonstruck? is a homage to Terry Riley, while ?Saturn Strobe? is a cover of a track by contemporary composer Robert Skempton.
