Title: Baseball, anyone?
Post by: Ernest on 05 Dec 2006, 09:05
The band, that is.  They're from Melbourne, Australia (a lot of good music there nowadays).
However, I love the sport too, so that is open for discussion as well.

Yeah, I found that out already.  Thanks, though.

So, how about Matsuzaka?  Or do you not follow the game that closely?

Emily from Baseball is also in True Radical Miracle and performs as Pikelet... she's quite nice and unassuming from what little time i've spent with her, and i wasn't prepared for the awesomeness that is Baseball when I heard it... i don't have much other music like it, so i don't know the genre, but its great... kept me going through a whole bus ride. Er... what other stuff is out there like it?

Before I came to Australia to hang out with indie bands I was brought up a Mets fan, so fuck the Yankees and good on the Red Sox for beating them

Ah well, at least you ain't my favorite team.  The Cubs spent a good 136 million dollars on a player who's OBP has only been over .350 once in his career.  But I'm sure you already knew that.

@The Eyeball Kid- Oh yeah, I forgot you live in Australia.  Have you hung out with My Disco any?

HAHAHAHAHA SORIANO.

I too am a Red Sox fan. Never heard of the band, though I have heard of Suicide Squeeze Records.

Actually, I am now in contact with Ben from Baseball via Myspace.

I am often ashamed of my hometown baseball teams - the Cubs and the White Sox.

More often than not, though, I'm more ashamed of their fans.

I didn't take the news very well (http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,13556.0.html).

You make a fairly valid argument about salaries, but to be realistic, Johan Santana would get ARod money on the FA market, and the others on there would make boatloads more as well.  Also, why did you leave Carlos Zambrano off that list?  He's easily one of the best pitchers in the game right now.

You want me to tell you about Baseball?
You probably know as much as I do.  All I have to go on is their Myspace page.  Since I live in the U.S., it's quite hard for me to get ahold of their stuff.

Santana's good, but he's not worth $250M. aRAH's not even worth it.

Nobody's worth it, but he'd get it.  That's my point.  He's the best pitcher in the game today.

um can people who know about this sort of music talk more about the band so that next time i run into the cute girl with the glasses i can say something intelligent about her music beyond 'its good to listen to on the bus'?
i mean she's not like super ultra cute, so its not a huge priority, but being intelligent about music beyond my own genres is a good thing. plus she's heaps nice (from what little i know)

Well Cameron is in another band Ninetynine (http://myspace.com/nintetynine) with Laura MacFarlane who was the original drummer for Sleater-Kinney.

he'd get it, if Scott Boras is his agent

And I'm not sure if he is or not.

Is that really a quote from me?  I don't recall saying that.  I doesn't seem like something I'd say because I know for a fact that Scott Boras is in fact Matsuzaka's agent.
