On Xmas of all days!
-
I'm sure he's "feelin' good" up in Heaven now!
-
He lived life on the edge for a fifty year music career, and he never really lost his greatness, either. Sure he went wacko on drugs a couple of times, but he's always delivered as a performer at least.
A true legend and musical individual.
-
-
It's just because Jesus was bored and wanted some funk for his birthday.
-
:|
Not good, the godfather of soul has made some good pieces throughout his career, influenced many artists, but I guess his time had come.
-
That sucks babies.
The Minister of The New New Super Heavy Funk has been laid to rest...
I need to go watch Soul Survivor now.

I'm going to miss James Brown and his greasy face.
-
Two years back I saw James Brown live in concert at the Credit Union Centre in Saskatoon. I can honestly say it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen, and if I had to devise an actual list I believe it might be the best concert I've ever seen. From the opening fifteen minute jam that his band played before he stepped onstage to the wild cheers that burst the roof off of the arena when he became visible to the insane volume of music he played out of his catalogue to the moment he brought Morgan fucking Fairchild onstage to dance with her and close the show, there wasn't a moment where I wasn't laughing, clapping, dancing (badly) and enjoying myself immensely. His talent was only exceeded by his mastery of the stage. Add to that the fact that it was the first concert I drove any distance to see, the fact that I got to see him without paying a dime and the fact that I was already an enormous James Brown fan? How could it be anything but impressive?
Brown was a consummate entertainer, an expert performer and an innovator whose influence on artists is not only noticeable but often bettering - goodness knows his and his band's ability to lock his songs into a groove has inspired me to try and figure out ways to make the simplest repetitions consistently interesting.
"I wanted to be somebody," Brown said.
Who hasn't? Brown was somebody. He led a tumultuous personal life but when he stepped onstage all of that disappeared and was replaced simply by a love of performance and a joy rarely seen outside of music. He was among the best, and he'll be sorely missed.
God bless, James.

Christmas has indeed lost its soul.
-
He will be missed.
-
He was a greasy fellow. The grease probably represented soul.
-
Of course the grease represented soul.
-
Super lame. But on the other hand, he wasn't exactly a model of clean living. Reaching 73 considering the circumstances is beating the odds.
Rest in peace.
-
Rest in peace, soul man.
-
This is probably the worst christmas ever.
-
Add my name to the list of people who thought this was terrible news...I don't really lnow how you could possibly NOT be bummed out to have heard that today.
-
The man went out on Christmas Day. It's exactly what he would have wanted.
Even when it comes to dying, James Brown does it with about a million times more class and showmanship than any of us could hope to.
-
Putting on shows until the end, that's dedication. Somehow, I think it's a little more fitting that he goes out doing what he does best, instead of just fading away and dieing ten years later.
-
james brown died... wow I hate to bring this to your attention but thousands of other people died today.
-
You're a cock.
-
Allow me to tell you a little story in the second person.
You are at a shooting range. You have your rifle aimed and loaded to tear right through the target. However for some reason you wait until the target has been moved and placed in a safe location before firing. You hit air.
It is five days after James Brown has died. This is what you've done. If you're going to be offensive, at least be offensive and timely.

The people who posted in this thread are posting here because they feel sad about the passing of James Brown.
Some dick has to come and shit all over it trying to make people feel guilty by pointing out that people die all the time. Doesn't matter that they don't know any of the those people.
I can not name a single person who died today.
That makes me a dick obviously, and I should feel guilty.
Iron_Fist man, why you gotta make me hate myself like this? I feel like a dispicable human being now.
I give a homeless man some change. That makes me a complete dick, because there are many more homeless people in the world who also need my change.
Did I mention, I just found a cure for cancer? Doesn't matter, I'm a complete cock because I didn't find the cure for aids. Doesn't matter that I don't even know what aids is, doesn't matter that it has never reached my country. I'm a cock because I didn't know about it and didn't cure it.
I'm sorry I'm such a dick guys, I'll get onto curing aids right away. I have the time to cure every disease, even the ones I'm not aware of.

Iron Fist, you're probably the same person that says "that's just your opinion" when you're clearly losing an argument.
-
heh. no but I saw james brown as just another guy.

Also I realize this. But I only got back to the internet 1 day ago.

To be honest, the news didn't affect me to any great extent, but have some sort of respect.
-
A person in my school had a miscarriage, but I didn't know her, the baby was just another person to me. I made sure I pointed out that there was nothing special about her baby that never was. I was well within my right to say that, I was not out of place, saying that did not make me a dick.
My best friend's parents died, but I never met them, so it was okay for me to say 'Newsflash! Many other people have been murdered by gunshot wounds from suicidal psychopathic strangers today too! YOUR PARENTS ARE NOT SPECIAL. GET A GRIP!'.
Okay, I've calmed down now. Sorry folks. ARGHGODSTILLSICKCANTSEEOHGODSICKICKSICKSHITTYSTARTTOTHEYEARPLEASEKILLME

sigh. You all win. To be fair though I should have stated my point concisely and backed it up rather than make an admittedly dumb statement.
-
Or maybe you should have decided against postin about how you don't care about james brown in a thread where people are mourning james brown.
think first!
I'd totally be thinking too right now, but ohmygodstillsickwhatithappeningtomyfacearghcrapwtfurghlegonnapuke

*sigh* true but common sense has never been one of my dominant traits.

Hey, you admitted you were wrong. You don't have to further degrade yourself.
