I think mine's going to end up being less comedy than you guys. It'll also probably be more or less the opposite of what most actualy Metallica fans would choose, too.
In no real order:

1. Fade To Black (from Ride The Lightning)
2. Loverman, as an example of how NOT to do a cover (from Garage Inc.)
3. Nothing Else Matters (from Metallica)
4. Tuesday's Gone, for sheer comedy value (from Garage Inc.)
5. Fuel (from Reload
6. The Memory Remains (from S and M)
7. Some Kind Of Monster, God knows why I like this song outside of his hokey Southern vocals (from St. Anger), no, really
8. No Leaf Clover (from S and M)
9. Hero Of The Day (from S and M)
10. Until It Sleeps (from S and M)

I like Garage Inc, because there are a couple of songs on it that I liked hearing in the original. Other than that...

Ennio Morricone- The Ecstasy of Gold.

Possibly the only good song they play wasn't written by them and it is a gimped version.

Metallica blows balls.

These days anyway...

Take Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets, and of course And Justice For All... a few tracks from The Black Album if I'm feeling generous (which I am today, say thanks), and you have a cohesive block of listenable metal/hard rock material. The rest is, assuredly trash. Some of it might be symphony-backed trash, but it is trash.

Kill 'em All is thrash trash. Due to the production (or lack thereof, depending on how you look at it) one can't even make out Cliff Burton's awesome bass awesomeness, which is really the only point of Metallica anyway...

Testement is right! Big ups on that. But also Megadeth, Iced Earth, Kreator, motherfucking Overkill, Sodom, Metal Church... well fuck I have had this discussion too many times in my life to carry out listing all the metal and thrash bands that are better than Metallica ever was... but if anyone gives a shit, prompt me...
