Title: Coachella 2007
Post by: Corcarpemei on 24 Jan 2007, 07:51
I can't believe that no one has already put this up, but here it is:

THE LINE-UP FOR COACHELLA 2007!

Holy shit this looks amazing! Fucking Rage Against the Machine is reuniting!!!  There's so much great stuff that I might jizz myself.

Also, does anyone plan to go?

Eh, I'm more interested in that particular lineup than the lineups of the past few years, but I probably won't cough up that kind of money to go. If I were gonna pay that much to go to some huge festival, it would be for Wacken. Except I'd have to toss in a cross-continental plane flight on top of it. Fucking Germans.

Dammit this is only about three hours away, but I am most likely not going for a number of reasons.  I'm still in school, and though i would definitely miss school for this i'm kind of young? i'm 14, i'm not sure if gigantic three-day festival of music overload is too safe.  My sister and brother went in 2005 withOUT ME, because they ALWAYS DO THAT, but my sis will probably be too busy to go this year.  My brother lives like thirty minutes away from Indio also! Though I don't think he has any friends right now.
Also the ticket prices are too got-damned high.

Crowded House? What? How do they propose to have Crowded House now that Paul Hester's dead?!

I would rather visit either of the first two days than the day Rage is reforming. Seriously. Out of the four big-lettered bands on Monday, three of them are acts I would probably donate an internal organ to see, and the other band is The Arctic Monkeys.

Rage Against The Machine are back? POLITICS AND WEIRD GUITAR SOUNDS FOR EVERYONE!

The only other bands on there that really interests me would be Against Me!, Gogol Bordello, and Busdriver. And Ozomatli if they still tour with Chali 2Na.

I die a little inside every time I read the lineup. God fucking dammit.

The motherfucking Jesus and Mary Chain.  Fuck.  Whoever's going please enjoy them doubly for me. Please.

Also Sonic Youth, Jarvis Cocker, Against Me!, the goddamn Happy fucking Mondays (someone please enjoy them doubly too), and Blonde Redhead.

Ugh. Dying.

Maybe if I'm really lucky I can catch a lot of these guys at some festival in England over the summer. Maybe.

I have learnt long ago that reading lineups for American festivals is a good way to make myself depressed as all shit. You keep your demon festivals, with your superb lineups, and I will just stay where I am and jack off.

I would pay the ticket cost, an eyeball, a testicle, a kidney, and three of my fingers to see that lineup.

If I had the money and a way to get there, I'd be there in a heartbeat. Rage? VNV Nation? Happy Mondays? J&MC? Christ on a stick, that's going to be an awesome festival.

Its $250, plus hotel/camping costs. I will be newly poor (as I am moving out there soon). I very much wish to go, but want to make sure it is financially viable.

Same boat for me. Top five acts I would want to see: Air, Peaches, Jarvis Cocker, Blonde Redhead & Hot Chip. RATM & JAMC are up there as well, but only for bragging rights.

DO it. You'll regret it if you don't. You might regret it for a little while if you do, like when you're sick of ramen or out of toilet paper or whatever, but you'll regret it a lot longer if you don't.

Johnny, they are from a shitty suburb near Toronto and the lead singer/bassist lived on my friend's res floor at McGill. Their single's alright.  This is the same friend who has the dude from Wolfparade as her cultural studies TA.

Dude. Immortal Re-union. Therion. Grave Digger. Sodom. Napalm Death. Saxon. Iced Earth.

It's going to slay. There's about 15 more bands to be announced as well, by my estimation. Also, some of the crapper stuff I still want to say. I've wanted to see Dimmu Borgir live for years. I will probably need to change my trousers after they play Puritania.

I know.

What?

I don't remember which one they released as a single but I guess that's irrelevant to me as I thought the entire EP was really great.

Why can't I lead her life?

Yeah, but there wasn't Nevermore, reunited Atheist, Celtic fuckin' Frost, or Arch Enemy.

But yeah, I'd be way into Sodom and Iced Earth live, even Iced Earth without Barlow. Does Therion work live though? I mean, don't they use a billion guest artists?

Live recordings and DVDs would say 'yes'.

Also, to be honest, Celtic Frost was somewhat dissapointing. Their sound quality was awful and they played very few of my favourite songs.

I've got the Clebrators of becomming DVD box set, their show works suprisingly well. Mats Levin is in the band now he does lead Male Vocals, they usually tour with a lead Soprano (In the past they've had people like Martina Astner and Sara Jezebel Diva, last tour they had Karin Fjellander) and a couple of choir vocalist for backup singing.

Typhon live off the same perfromance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5W2Bb7LjqmI)

The first line of this song sends shivers down my spine just from this recording. I'm going to need a cold shower after seeing them live. Thank goodness Piotr Wawrzeniuk won't be there, I'd just start rolling around on the floor speaking in tongues if he was singing.

They probably won't play Typhon anymore since Cristofer announced he won't be singing live anymore :(

Yeah Typhon is a pretty good song. My three favorites off of disc one would have to be "Asgard" (Hell all the Secret of the Runes songs sounded really good)  "In Remberence" (I can't believe they'd never played it live before, ) and "Melez" (Cristoffers Death vocals at the end owned).

Alright I was just a little surprised.  Not that they outright suck but as THE metal dude on these forums I'm sure you know that they'd sacrifice a few of their own internal organs to rock as hard as Satyricon.

Who would sacrifice their favourite moonchildren to live up to Horna or Carpathian Forest.

Basically, I only want to see them for Puritania, and maybe one or two of the old tracks.

Anyone who goes and doesn't see Roky Erikson, I will personally punch in the neck.

Also, how did Placebo get higher billing than Tapes 'n Tapes?  Weren't Tapes 'n Tapes on Letterman?  Did Placebo suddenly get more fans or something?  Not that Placebo is all that bad, I just thought their popularity peaked a long time ago.

I can't believe that man is playing shows again.  My heart has been lifted!  I don't give a shit that I'm not going.  That doesn't matter.  I'm content just to know that fucking Roky Erickson is playing music again.

I confess, It looks amazing, but it needs Belle and Sebastian, Sufjan Stevens, Regina Spektor and Ted Leo on top of what's there to coax me to travel that far. But it's an amazing line up to be sure, Tilly, Jesus, Arcade Fire, Rufus, etc. I wish the Dismemberment Plan wasnt broken up and the Exploding Hearts not dead, that would be amazing as well.

Ah. Right. Because of course it's not weird to anyone else that Willie Nelson, a country (and otherwise) legend would play along with the likes of, oh say...Rage Against the Machine?

...I'm just music-stupid apparently. Forget I said anything.
Title: Re: Coachella 2007
Post by: Jackie Blue on 05 Feb 2007, 15:22
Er, no, in fact, it's not weird for Willie Nelson to be playing Coachella.  He's no more out of place than Manu Chao or Roky Erickson.  Willie Nelson is extremely popular with young jam-band fans and indie rockers and stoners as a folk hero.  He's nearly as popular with the young, hip set as Johnny Cash and Hank Williams Sr.

This alone is why I want to punch the young, hip set. They're only into his music because he made a movie with Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon and promptly died. Makes me want to stab something, having been given this man's music along with mother's milk.
