The captain of the enterprise B checkov tuvok and ulhura?
well, it looks legit, same kind of stock they used on tng
my god. i dont know what to think. i mean, yeah, new star trek, but, it smells a little, well, like a cheap cash in. here's hoping its better than nemesis

This looks totally lame.
-
It's not a real Star Trek movie.
It's Tim Russ's (Tuvok) movie.
It looks exceedingly awesome. In a horrificly cheesy 80's CGI sci-fi B-movie sort of way.
-
im sick of the once mighty star trek being reduced to "cheezy b grade" sci fi
ill see it, but im waiting for the abrams project
-
I think cheesy b grade scifi will be good for star trek, that's what it started out as after all.
-
I still don't get what this project is supposed to be. If it has Star Trek in the title, it's a "real" Star Trek movie. Not because the title makes it so, but because there's no way Paramount would allow a movie to be made with Star Trek in the title and it not be a real Star Trek movie. It sure does look like Tim Russ' pet project, but more than anything else, it just looks kinda bizarre. An unnatural meeting of Star Trek subfranchises.

Oh man, Cameron Fry's dad is going to have his head for wrecking that planet. It was a classic.

Star Trek is pretty much the model of old school TV science fiction when it was all about an idealistic view of human future. Somewhere along the line they decided to change the message, and that's when it became just a cheap B scifi franchise trying to just cash in on it's own name.
The writers of TNG complained about the 'Roddenberry box' where they weren't allowed to write too much conflict between characters, but they also said it forced them to be more creative. Then in future incarnations they got rid of that box, and started being less creative. Hence, we wound up with the travesties Voyager and Enterprise, and Ron Moore took the poorly written DS9 and tried to make it into what he's now writing as Battlestar Galactica. Which while a good idea, didn't work in the Star Trek world at all.
Which is why I am ready to declare the franchise dead. Because anybody who tries to revive it will just butcher it some more. Which is a shame because some super-idealistic left wing tripe analogous to the current 'war on terror' is something I'd love to see now.
-
DS9 was poorly written?
To hell with you. Right to hell.
Also, Battlestar Galactica is Voyager, except with Ron Moore having more creative control. Seriously. Go read his interviews about why he hated Voyager(which he was initially a part of). He just took all of the reasons he hated Voyager and made it BSG.

This looks totally lame.
well it is star trek...
-
so weird...
just so weird...
I don't know if i like this at all.
-
It just looks alot like a fan film that strangley features some original cast member
If this is going to be an offical Star Trek film then ii think its another nail in the Star Treks coffin
RIP Star Trek

How do people get away with using the internet without reading? Or using logic? Or a single thought?
Does it look like an official Star Trek movie? Did I not say it was not a real Star Trek movie? Do you see "Paramount" or "Rick Berman" or "Brannon Braga" anywhere in that trailer? Does it even look like a real trailer?
For Christ's sake, it's using the EPIC HINDU MUSIC from The Matrix: Revolutions!
-
So the actors from Star Trek can't get any other acting jobs, so they're reduced to starring in Internet fan films? :-D
All kidding aside, I'm actually really excited about this.

I love how people have seemingly posted in this thread just to rag on Star Trek. Nice one guys!
I haven't watched the trailer yet, but Ozzy is really selling this to me.
