anybody else a fan of this severly underrated show that was cancelled much to early?
-
I am, I loved it, though apparently the episodes we saw were much censored by the network from what the writers originally wanted them to be. Though looking around now, this could have been due to the creative director of the show changing.
I had a marathon of it the other week, I can't wait for the second series to be released on dvd in Britain.

I just loved all the cussin. I mean, it was such a sweet show, about a family dealing with their daughters death, about people adjusting to their OWN deaths, and it was also extremely brutal at times, with so much swearing I'm surprised it made it onto TV at all.
Damn I miss it.
-
well it was originally on showtime
-
good stuff. saw most of it through dvds, but there's still a fair amount of episodes i have not yet watched.
-
I never liked any of the parts of it I saw. Although they must have thought the boot-faced girl in the title vote was a VERY good actress.
-
"You're a constipator, Peanut. You disturb my shit and that's annoying."
<3 that show.
-
My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, now prepare to die!
-
I have only seen a couple of the episodes but it seem like it would be an alright series to watch. I didn't seem like something I would schedule into my day to watch, but if it was on while I was at the boob tube it was ok.
-
It was more of the premise and the setting that made the show unique, not necessarily the dialogue or the actual content. Plus it was filmed in vancouver and filmed in record stores I go to and that's just doubleplus bonus points for me!
-
I desperately wish we had a waffle house like the one in the show where I live. Seriously, I would never leave.
-
I enjoyed the show, I think the couple of seasons that it had were pretty good, but I'm not sure they could have kept it going without rehashing story lines eventually.
Also, I could never quite decide if I thought the girl who played George was attractive or not.

The whole series can be found here (http://www.tv-links.co.uk/show.do/1/272), for your viewing pleasure

I always wondered if the Reapers were there because they couldn't form their own exits. In each death sequence the souls who were ready to die crafted their own gateways to the afterlife. I always assumed that reapers were the people who hadn't lived a fufulling enough life to craft their gateway to the afterlife, and doing the job they were doing would eventually help them along. Would have really like to have seen how this series ended.

Bumping this thread cos I love the show so much.
The reapers are there pretty much to fulfill a function. In the pilot Rube explains that when a reaper fulfills his/her quota of souls they get to move on to the actual afterlife or to a promotion or something. Each reaper has a different quota and nobody knows what the quotas are. The last soul that the reaper takes in their capacity as a reaper takes the place of that reaper. Seems like a big balance thing I think.
I loved this series and I'm thinking of getting it on dvd even if I have to order it in from the US. I might do that this week.

I loved this show. Seriously. Why would they cancel it?
Mason: Rube is so old, he probably reaped Jesus!
-
It was the awesomenesstest.

I'm waiting for series 2 in the post right now. After my last exam I will be having a marathon of that and series 3 Arrested Development. I will probably die of the awesome.

Buster as a reaper would amuse me. slightly

I don't particularly enjoy the series but I thought I'd share this with you all:
Direct-To-DVD Movie
On April 18th, 2007, MGM announced that they are developing an ambitious slate of direct-to-DVD movies and sequels. Mentioned among them is a brand new film based on Dead Like Me. The article mentions that the film will be written by Dead Like Me writer and producer Stephen Godchaux and will be directed by Stephen Herek. The cast of the film has not yet been announced, although several fan sites have cited that Ellen Muth confirmed on of those sites that she will be in the film.
