OK why the hell did the fratellis win over kasabian and the kooks? and why the hell did the killers win best album? argh! anyone elses fancy a rant about any choices made at the Brits?
-
The brits have always been wank. If I ever win one I'll just do what I said Busted did and use the damn thing as a sex toy.
The choices at award shows have always been deliberately engineered to inspire publicity-producing 'how the fuck did this win over that?' rants like yours.
Although I must make two points:
- Russell Brand is a cunt.
- Oasis have never sounded as bad as they did last night.
-
I am not a fan of Oasis or Russel Brand, nor Busted...
But I think that the Killers did really well, though I prefer their first album to their second. I felt that Muse could have got more awards as I love them (Matt Bellamy is a rock God), and I loved the opening performance from Scissor Sisters, and I enjoyed watching RHCP. :)

Hold on, they gave Busted an award?
-
hold on who is busted?

You recon they sounded worse than at Glastonbury? And how do the Brits benefit from choosing things just to get more publicity? surely Radio 1 gave them enough?

Busted were a three piece manufactured Brit pop band. Manufactured meaning that they auditioned and got lumped together without actually making a name for themselves.
They consisted of bassist Matt Willis who has recently won the ITV show "I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!" hosted by Ant and Dec on ITV1 in the UK.
Charlie Simpson, lead singer and guitarist who is now in heavy/rock band Fightstar.
James Bourne is a member of Son of Dork, and not much has been heard from him...
All in all it was a good thing they broke up. Having teenage girls going into screaming fits, and having places littered with "OMG I luv Busted LOL 11!!!11one" began to piss me off. Sad to say, my friend Sam still likes them (and he's male).
But back to the Brits. I never knew Razorlight were a British band. I thought that they were from America. I also thought that The Arcade Fire should have been nominated for Best International Album with Funeral.

This is a Music Forum.
The Brit Awards have nothing to do with music.
Why did the thread continue after this post? There is barely an artist/band at the Brits I can stand.
I quite like Corinne Bailey Rae but mainly because she is from my city and she is pretty hot.

*BZZZZT* Wrong.
And being manufactured doesn't mean shit anyway. The Monkees made some timelessly brilliant pop records and they were as manufactured as the Spice Girls.
-
I know manufactured doesn't mean shit, but I just think Busted are shit. Sorry for being confuzzling.
-
can we get down to ranting now please? we may be doing the world of credibility an injustice or whatever crap you've cooked up just now, but we're told not to be snobs. i agree with the opening statement, frankly. and WHY DID JARVIS COCKER NOT DO ANYTHING INTERESTING THIS TIME AROUND? there were multible opportunities. i mean, Russel Brand was hosting, for the love of... pancakes.. and he just cries to be lauded. the man isn't funny... and gets written about in Heat. Even my tea swilling, level headed father was crying "FIX! FIIIIIIX!" at every award presented to the most indecently shite band out of the catagory. and Oasis, as ever, showed how crap they were. the Brits were a bit of a letdown this year, moreso than any other year... although Amy WInehouse deserved the awards she got.

I fucking hate the Brits. Actually thats not true, there is a certain mentality of bloody minded endrunkenment in certain aspects of their society that I admire, but for the most part, they are a bunch of bloody wankers.
Any award ceremony without an ape is not a legitimate award ceremony in the first place

Who's confused? I was making two separate statements. Busted were not manufactured. They recorded demos, they played acoustically in their label's office, and they got signed. They also wrote a great deal of their own songs. Busted were not your average boy band.

Oh I thought they were maufactured...
I have obviously been living under a rock for the past few years.
I thought the awards went to quite a few good bands this year. It's nice to see "indie rock" or whatever the main genre is back on the scene, and to see RnB and that stuff that I don't like get pushed away.
-
Is there any difference between the Brits and the Grammy's? I really can't stand the bands that are in either for the most part. (Take that the wrong way.)
-
The Grammys are the American version of the Brit Awards.
Brits have awards mainly for albums and people: British Male solo artist, British Female solo artist, MasterCard (the sponsors) British Album, British Single, British Breakthrough Act, British Live Act, International Male solo artist, International Female solo artist, International Group, International Album, International Breakthrough Act, Outstanding Contibution of Music.
The Grammys cover loads of stuff: Alternative, Blues, Classical, Children's, Comedy, Composing, Country, Dance, Disco, Film/TV/Media, Folk, Gospel, Jazz, Latin, Musical Show, Musical Video, New Age, Best Album Cover, Polka, Pop, Production, RnB, Rap, Reggae, Rock, Surround Sound, Spoken, Traditional Pop and World. They have a big four of Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and New Artist.
So they're similar, but different.
We also have the BAFTAs, you have the Oscars (for film etc). Above, in the Grammys, you award film music there, we award film music in the BAFTAs (I think, I may be wrong).

*sigh*

I'm entitled to an opinion. If you don't like it, just ignore me. Simple.
