Anyone else listen to this band/guy? I picked up the Bobby Malone Moves Home E.P. and Etiquette last week and I am digging this music in a big way. (I also got Twinkle Echo, but I've only listened to that once so far.) Wonderful songs for anyone who's ever been hit around by the numerous tiny blows that life sometimes strikes against you like sleet in a winter wind.

I listened to the mp3s on the site, and they were quite enjoyable. Reminds me of a number of artists I cannot recollect at this moment, but I will modify this post later when they come to mind.
-
Johnny recommended them/him in some thread or another and I picked up Etiquette. I really enjoy it.

My favorite song by Mr. Ashworth is We Have Mice. I like Casiotone for the Painfully Alone A LOT.

If you like the albums, you should definitely pick up the Bobby Malone E.P. As well as the album version of the title track, it has 4 songs - the title track again, "Jeanne, If You're Ever in Portland", "Tonight Was a Disaster", and "It Wasn't the Same Somehow", all performed live with a full band. They sound incredible.

Man I think all I did was post the cover art and you picked it up based on that. It's great cover art, though.
Casiotone For The Painfully Alone are great, and Etiquette was one of the best albums released last year. I had a very long post about Owen Ashworth and his incredible songwriting skills but the Internet hates me. Suffice to say, if you are in a record store and trying to decide between Etiquette and another album then your best bet is to go with the former record. I am of course assuming that you all own Ladyhawk's self-titled debut, though.
Also, the E.P. Inlander named is stellar, but the "Young Shields" single, with a lo-fi cover of Prince's "When You Were Mine," is equally rad.

I agree! But isn't it When U Were Mine ? I love good artists covering a good artist, and making an entirely new song based on one that rocked. In sum: everyone in this thread is correct.
-
It was sent to me as "When You Were Mine." Maybe he went with the Princeabet.
-
i've seen him live in nashville and @ a house party or two around. nice guy, but i never really got into his music.
-
I'd picked up the song "Graceland" off Pitchfork, and it's pretty good. Need to get around to finding his albums.
-
I need to get some shit by this guy. His song titles alone are genius.
-
I just listened to Bobby Malone Moves Home and it sounds like he wrote that song about the past year of my life.
It's so spot on it creeps me out.

I'm not a big fan, but still think it's cool and reckon Tomlab is a great label.
Did any of you listen to James Figurine's album from last year? It's Jimmy Tomborello, who is probably best known as Dntel and as not-Ben Gibbard in The Postal Service. It's much shinier, dancier, brighter sounding music-wise, but the sorta half-spoken, bit flat vocal stylings with funny lyrics reminded me of CFTPA.

Delightfully depressing masterpieces of lyrical genius. Or something.
Honestly now, you have to say they're not crap just for the name alone.
