Yeah, I'll reveal the extent of my nerditude and say I read a ridiculous number of these books.  And Tanis was by far the coolest character, hands down.  Sturm is a decent second though.

I only really read the first four or whatever, the seasonal ones.  They were pretty good though.

I always thought Caramon was pretty cool.

Tanis is by far my favorite character.  I blame him being a ranger which was always my favorite class to play in AD&D.

I like Raistlin, because he's dark and myseterious.  although i question his loyalties, because i haven't read that many of them (only the Dragonlance Chronicles like...Dragons of Autumn Twilight and the next three.

Dragonlance had a pretty high status with me. The trouble is everything after the chronicles is more or less overwrought garbage and not in the kitschy fun Forgotten Realms way but just boring bigger=better tripe. I realise that you don't read fantasy for the literary value but there is just a vague line that they shouldn't cross. I feel that way about Eddings and Hobb too.   

As for character, Tasselhoff! no contest :-)

My favorite characters were Tasslehoff, Flint, Fizban, and Sturm. With Tass, probably coming out on top. I seem to be the only DL fan in existence who didn't absolutely love Raistlin. Frankly, I thought he was an unlikable jerk most of the time.

Good fantasy novels like The Fionavar Tapestry kinda ruined the shit like Dragonlance for me.
