Tetris is one of my favourite games of all time, it's so simple yet so challenging, every time you play it, you're trying to beat your last high score, and in my case, if you play it too much, you can't stop thinking about it different possible combinations of pieces for days afterwards.
Since the game by it's nature is very competitive, I want to know how well you all can do. Can you measure up to my current high score?

damn, now I need to play Tetris again to see if I can
oh, Jakie Chan quit playing Video Games because he would dream of tetris
-
I believe I will have to look for a copy of the game. I believe I can beat the challenge you have set. Your score seems low enough. I will see about renewing past relationships with a once loved game.

Here is my highest score for a flash version I downloaded like two years ago. I don't know how it calculates the score, but for this version I compare scores with number of lines.

We all need to get the same version so that we can compete properly.
In the meantime,

The original version on the NES
-
It's the version that's published by Nintendo.
-
I will have to acquire the NES version, I guess.
Tetris is ruining my university scores right now because I managed to track down a Gameboy emulator for my Symbian phone. I play way too much Tetris DX on that thing, especially during lectures.
The scores I managed in DX so far are somewhere above 550000 in the normal endless mode and 1:59 in 40 lines with the smallest space possible set.

This is from the SNES Tetris, I'm almost positive. I have a better score on the original...But my boyfriend lost the picture.
-
My current score is 91000. However I don't have your fancy 16 bits so I can't tell you how close that is.
-
Actually, it doesn't matter. All of the games made specifically for Nintendo are scored the same. Therefore, you're close! Way to go!
-
I disagree (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Tetris_variants)! The various stylistic and gameplay elements mean that they are different games.
Were Gauntlet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gauntlet_%28arcade_game%29) and Gauntlet Legends (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gauntlet_Legends) scored the same, I would still tell you "Same game has to be the case!"
