Title: I quit WoW, now what?
Post by: Grawsith on 26 Feb 2007, 01:09
I quit, I don't miss it. I just have a lot of free time, so I'm wondering what I should do. So far, i've just had bizzare ideas like paintball, Counter-Strike and blogging about something.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Level my blood elf paladin for me.  I don't have time to play the game much lately but I need to get to 70 so I can play with my brothers and in-laws.

He's at level 32.  GOGOGOGOGOGO.

(But really, if you're looking for a new video game addiction, Battlefield 2142 is awesome as far as first person shooters go.)

Quit touching yourself.

Sorry couldn't resist.

My WoW account is still active for another couple weeks but I haven't wanted to play lately.  I go from loving it to just not wanting to play.  Instead Oblivion is sucking me in again.

do something productive.  Make small handcrafts and sell them for minimal profit.  Over analyze the cd of your choice and then blab about how you are a music critic.

Make a 12 part docu-drama about your addiction and your fight to end it.

Then get wasted one night and lose all credibility after being caught doing something embarassing in public.

That should kill some time.

I had some Piano sheet music for a few FF songs, my favorite was "To Zanarkand", never played any of the games but google tells me it's from #10, with a bit of effort you could transcribe it to Occarina.

Hey, I got a question, but i didn't wanna start a new thread. Whats the comic where Steve is talking to some random chick, and the gang walks up and cockblocks him, and Faye says "Gomen Nasai."

I think it's in the 700's.
Title: Re: I quit WoW, now what?
Post by: Scytale on 27 Feb 2007, 02:19
Gomenasai is Japanese for "Sorry"

People often say it when the push past you up a staircase and things, its pretty amazing in Japan, very polite culture.

Firstly, you get a rehab cookie. Secondly, maybe you should go try and catch rabid wombats...or play Oblivion...they both take a lot of time...

I just quit for the 3rd time in my 2 years(ish, actually less , but w/e) of play. I can't spend that kind of time, I got stuff I want/need to do.

Just delete WoW from your hard drive. The installation time required and patches you gotta DL will stop you from wanting to play again :D

Start a band, and rock out. It's what I would do.

You know, if I was ever in your shoes. Instead I'm addicted to reading.

And porn.

Oh and to the topic starter... Stay away from anyone that plays WoW in real life. They will only get you to start again. (Happened to me)

Take up another, better MMO.

I suggest EVE online. Or, if roleplaying is more your thing, The Matrix Online (Crap game, awesome community)

failing that... origami? learn the trombone? get 100% on Final Fantasies VII through to XII? (excluding XI, obviously). Break out Tony Hawk's Underground and break my one-combo high score of twelve million points? (I won that HORSE game so very, very hard). Put together your own zombie survival kit? Charity work? Get yourself invited to a sex party? Write a novel?

I'd suggest CoH/CoV for a more time friendly MMO experience.  Plus the community really does rock.

WoW just has way too many fanboi's.  Not that it will keep me from reuppiing my subscription when the desire hits.

I second Anyways recommnedation to wait for WAR.  It looks toally bad-ass, and it's being made by teh guys who made Dark Age of Camelot, so you know hat PvP is going to rock.
 Plus, MASSIEV ORC HORDES!

Play an instrument. I play guitar and I've started practising 4+ hours a day and i'm no longer bored and best of all you actually achieve something but if you're not a music enthusiast then maybe its not for you.

If you're looking for book series to wile away the hours I can't suggest Jim Butcher's Dresden Files stronly enough (the book NOT the sci-fi series... ugh). Great fast reading that kept me interested throughout. I actually bought the first four for my brother and his girlfriend for Christmas... then proceeded to buy the rest of the series to give to him because I wanted to read them.

Also the latest book comes out this upcoming Tuesday. Whee!

Also Steven Brust's Taltos series is quite good. Both of those authors make tight, well paced series that you'll eat through in a day or two at most but are very much worth the money.

Guys guys guys.

Diablo 2.

It's like the alcohol to WoW's heroin: an addiction that's not quite as destructive, more socially acceptable, and something everyone has tried at least once.

*shudders* Diablo 2...

So many lost nights...

What is hilarious is when my friend saw me playing it 2 months ago, he was shocked when he saw all the gold on the ground...

I told him, "Gold is their currency here... there is no copper and silver..."

Him: Oh... nevermind...

For me, school deadlines usually help putting your mind on different things

Take up playing Guild Wars, it's much better than WoW and it's free!

Or you could always read or watch classic films.  Someone mentioned World War Z, read the book, it's brilliant and I only found one glaring factual error.  Ok, it was only a glaring factual error to me, most people who are not aviation nuts would never notice it.

Or, here's a crazy idea, go outside.  There's a whole world out there of trees, grass, lakes, oceans.. the sun!  That's nice too.

Now you have escaped you have to help others also. When people you know are playing World of Warcraft you have to yell "Mocking blow!" and hit them in the kidney until the stop playing the game.

Make fun of everyone who still plays  :-D

I actually am considering canceling my account I just don't feel like playing anymore. Bah what a waste I was 66 too and I jsut can't bring myself to just get those last levels.

Start playing the Karate Kid montage song in loop, and you'll reach 70 in no time... Either that or go insane... fair trade off...

ITS CALLED MOVITATION

Post by: Trollstormur on 05 May 2007, 12:25
Being 70 isn't all that, really. Having two now, and having to rep grind for hours on end to reach revered with four different factions to do instance suited to my level just kind of kills my will to keep playing.

well think of it this way, all that rep farming will get you money for your flying mount so you can do the other dungeons that are suited for your level

May 29... an event happens that is to magical to speak about.

Okay maybe not that magical. Anyway May 29 is the day that Shadowrun comes out. I tell you now my friends this game will redefine the FPS genre.

You realize that it's basically just taking Counterstrike hacks and making them into actual gameplay mechanics, right?
Title: Re: I quit WoW, now what?
Post by: Ozymandias on 08 May 2007, 01:59
Oh, man.

The only thing that game is redefining is how willing people are to accept games that bear no resemblance whatsoever to the original source material.

No, that's not as harsh as I wanted it to be.

Fuck that abortion of a game named for some ungodly reason "Shadowrun".
