Anyone with an Xbox 360 and a Live! account owes it to themselves to play Crackdown Co Op. One thing I've been praying for in sandbox games for awhile is cooperative play, and this delivers. While the main Boss battles are pretty short-lived, playing with people and just goofing off is where the fun is to be had. If anyone has it and wants to say hello to me via a rocket launcher, my gamertag is Melodik.

I've been putting off getting this game because I'm not a big fan of open-world games in general and the Gamespot review was rather lukewarm. I'll probably get it eventually, but I'm not sure I want to pay the full 60 dollars for it.
-
I'd probably agree it isn't worth the $60 if you aren't completely into it. The campaign mode is short, and things start to fall short once you max out all your skills. I will say, though, that it is a ton of fun if you've got some imagination and a buddy. Hide-and-seek is particularly rewarding.

Crackdown...that's the game that comes free with the Halo 3 beta right?
-
Damn you, you are part of the problem.
-
Hahahahaha, i'm just joking around man, sandbox games are hella fun.
-
Man. I had a dream about this game.
Specifically, the agility race in the first section of the game where you jump around the big ferris wheel.
Which I still can't seem to do at 3 star agility.
-
That ferris wheel is a pain in the ass, especially without 4 star agility. The camera doesn't help, as I found it getting in the way, either smooshed up against the wheel itself or giving me a birds'-eye view, which is annoying as all hell. It's got nothing on Alleys of the Den, though.
-
Is it just me, or does the difficulty ramp up a ton after you get rid of the first gang? I killed everyone in Los Muertos without too much trouble, but I moved on to the Volk section and I've managed to kill two but the one I'm trying to kill now has a big-ass horde of guards that I can't seem to get rid of without dying.
-
The Volk are certainly a pain in the ass (especially the Kingpin, he's a load of crap). Make sure to eliminate the two lower-tier generals before taking on the other ones, and it should tone down how many thugs are boosting the other bosses. Alternatively, make a quick run into Shai-Gen territory and grab the Firefly rocket launcher and Cluster grenades. Boom!
PS: I am surprised you caved in so soon, Storm. Your will is weak!
-
I think the Shai-Gen are more annoying. Picture this scenario:
You climb a very tall building. You feel this great sense of accomplishment. Suddenly, a rocket hits you. You think "oh, no big deal, shields recharge and whatnot". However, a second rocket hits you, sending you flying off the tall building, straight to the ground, possibly to your death.
This has happened to me more times than I can count. Friggin' Shai-Gen.

Indeed. I cannot resist spending money on games, it's basically a sickness.
Anyway, I have the cluster grenades, and a rocket launcher, but I don't think it's the Firefly one. Maybe I'll look for that one if I still can't beat this general. I beat one of the lowest-tier, and one of the mid-tier, and I keep dying while trying to take down the second lowest-tier guy.
Is it true you can't play co-op locally? Because if so, that sucks.
-
The Firefly rocket-launcher has a 5-round clip and can hold 20 rockets at a time. It is semi-automatic and the rockets are heat-seeking. It is the BFG of Crackdown. And, it's not possible to play split-screen Crackdown co-op, simply because your Xbox would have a fit and melt trying to process two instances of the same game at once. It is playable via System Link and Xbox Live!.
-
Yeah, the one I have is just a 10-rocket, non-homing one. Do you know exactly where in the Shai Gen area to find it?
-
I know the rockets are standard-fare for rooftop thugs in Shai-Gen area, so if you leap around a bit you should be able to find a pack carrying them. They make a very distinctive sound as they home in on your face. I'm pretty sure most of the bosses have bodyguards carrying them, too, so you could always do a dry run of Wang.
Alternatively, if you start a Co-Op game with someone who already has the gun, they can drop it, and you can pick it up: return to a supply point and voila, all yours.

I can one up that.
Volk. Damn them.
I was at Yuriev, and got hit by a rocket. I flew into the street and got hit by a truck. Then I died.

Crackdown...that's the game that comes free with the Halo 3 beta right?
This game has become known as "Halo 3 Beta: Featuring Crackdown" by pretty much all of us Halo fanatics. I still would like to try the game though, right after I get down with the beta...
