Floydian Memories by Shadow Gallery? Its not metal, but its 20 minutes of Pink Floyd medly-ing, so it's awesome.

It's not over half an hour, but its close.

I would count Six Degrees Of Inner Turbulence as one song with segments as there is no pause between said segments. It is a pretty kickass song.

Light of Day, Day of Darkness by Green Carnation.
Excellent choice. I was going to mention it myself.

The Dream Theater one is great, too.

You can also consider Meshuggah - Catch 33 to be one piece at about 43 minutes.

Some others that aren't metal:
Jethro Tull - Thick as a Brick (~40 minutes)
The Flower Kings - Garden of Dreams (~60 minutes)
The Flower Kings - The Truth Will Set You Free (over 30 minutes)
Transatlantic - All of the Above (over 30 minutes)
Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Motherfucker = Redeemer (~35 minutes)

The longest song I know of is 'Big Black Square' by tarentel which is 43 minutes 12 seconds long and all very very awesome. True, the first 15 minutes is rainfall recorded in an alleyway and all sorts of minimalistic distortion but for me that just adds to the greatness of the song. It pushes all sorts of sonic boundaries and works wonderfully.
Eluvium's contribution to the Travels in Constansts series is also great, clocking in at 33 minutes 19 seconds and is all sorts of ambient awesomness. The aformentioned 'Motherfucker=Redeemer' by Godspeed you! Black Emperor is also great and their longest song.

Cassandra Gemini by The Mars Volta. It may not be metal by most standards, but there are bits of (jazz-)metal in there. And it's just fucking awesome, so you should listen to it.

Oh, and both parts of 'Motherfucker=Redeemer' by Godspeed You! Black Emperor put together.

And this is not metal in the slightest, but the entire second disc of Kate Bush's Aerial album is a suite of songs that I count together; close to 45 minutes I think.

This isn't metal or post-rock, but it is the longest 'official' song in the world! Know why?

Wow, my longest feels lame by comparison...only 24 minutes...

The Odyssey, by Symphony X...

:(

My perception of the world is flawed.

That's only because long player might become the song that never ends. We'll just have to wait for eternity and find out, then we'll know how true our perception of the world is. Don't lose heart yet! We can outlive this long player!

'Dopesmoker' by Sleep.

Everyone should hear this once.

You are correct, sir.  Clocks in at just over 63 minutes.  In the vein of Black Sabbath, too.

Dopesmoker is freaking awesome, no doubt.

Most of my recommendations are going to be on the dronier side of things, I'm afraid. You've got Absolutego by Boris, it's a classic. I would say it's a patience tester (65 minutes long) but if you're looking for extremely long songs, I think you must have a fair bit of patience. Boris and Merzbow: Sun Baked SNow Cave, another Boris release, also excellent, 66 minutes long, though it's an extremely difficult listen. Also, Boris's Flood release. It's basically a 74 minute long post-rock song, but it's real awesome.

A lot of stuff by Nadja is about 20 minutes long. Possibly not long enough for you, but they're all really good anyway. And Meshuggah's Catch 33 is indeed awesome.

Oh, and freaking Atavist! Real slow crusty sludge stuff, but it's really entertaining. I would highly recommend. Also: Orthodox, another great sludgy doom band. Atavist are a fair bit better though. Finally, there is a really good industrial/drone band called Hyatari (think of a heavier, more riff orientated Jesu) and they did a one song album, which is split into 7 tracks or so. It's called the Light Carriers and it's freaking amazing.

Hope my recommendations helped. I know most of it's real slow doom, but those are the only real long tunes I have.

I'll third Light of day day of darkness, excellent excellent prog/doom clocks in at 1:00:06

Quick sort of my playlist reveals the next longests song's I have, all are a lot shorter then 30 mins but all these tracks are excellent IMO...

Burzum - Rundgang um die transzendentale S?ule der Singularit?t (25:11), Ambient
Nargaroth - Amarok - Zorn Des Lammes (Part II) (22:37), Black Metal
Opeth - Black Rose Immortal (20:16) Prog Metal
Nargaroth - As The Stars Took Me With' Em (19:49), Black Metal
Nargaroth - Amarok - Zorn Des Lammes (Part I) (18:39) Black Metal
NOFX - The Decline (18:21) Punk
Green Carnation - My Dark Reflections of Life and Death (17:50) Folk / Doom

The Amarok Trillogy by Nargaroth is pretty good in particular all three follow on from each other but are released across separate albums.

And then of course there are the albums which are one continous song split into tracks, such as "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence"  "Catch 33" etc the longest of these I can think off is:

"Theme's From Wiliam Blakes the Marriage of Heaven and Hell" by Ulver which spans a double cd and is an almost complete naration of Blake's Plates, highly reccomended, Goes for 1:41:09.

If you want really long stuff thats not neccissarily one song check out "Food for the Gods" by Fireaxe, it's 14 songs,  that are all losely interconnected, it spans three Disks and has a total running time of 03:57:11 really amazing epic power metal and by epic, i mean re-defines the word epic,  basically Brian Voth attempts to retell the entire history of Human Evoloution, it's has to be apprciated for the shear audacity of even attempting it. As far as I know all Fire Axe music is available in the public domain so if you're interested google for it.

A bit short of 30 minutes, but since you're asking for metal...

A Change of Seasons by Dream Theater.  Chances are you've heard it but if you haven't, you need to.

Charlemange Palestine's Schlingen-Blangen is the longest track that I've got in my collection. Over seventy one and a half minutes of incredible solo organ droning.

If that's not your thing I'd recommend playing Nick Cave and the Badseeds' Babe, I'm on Fire twice.

Eugh! that would be about two times too many. Easily the worst Cave song I have ever heard.

Rush's 2112 is like 20 mins long.

Art of Life by X-Japan is about a half hour.

Same for Manowar's Achilles, Agony and Ecstasy In Eight Parts.

Dream Theater's Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is like 43 mins long.

Sabbat's The Dwelling which clocks in just shy of a full hour.

mistigo vargotth darkestra ? key to the gates of apocolyps is 72:06

Fantomas's Delirium Cordia lasts 74 minutes.

I should also promote my friends' very unknown black metal band.  They have one song, that is 35 minutes long.  I've only heard the 25-minute version, and it was awesome.  But good luck finding it, they've only headlined their first show last thursday, still don't have a cd out yet.

You should consider the album Sol Niger Within by Fredrik Thordendal's Special Defects; it's split into a bunch of short tracks, but plays like a long, strangely constructed song.

66 minutes long. It's a great tune.

There's a heap of Boris songs around an hour long. Absolutego, Sun Baked.., Flood, Feedbacker, and a heap of songs around 20 minutes long- their Megatone album with Merzbow, the alternate version of Vein, Dronevil.. tonnes of stuff, most of it quite good.
