As advised i downloaded a few of Get Him Eat Him's demo songs and I must say they are pretty sweet.
For someone like me that really just find "new" music when someone recomends me or points out that
they are totally awesome etc it's not often I come across this godly happy liferevitalising sound, so first
of all what is the "genre" called? And second what more bands exist that play type of music?
Thanks! (And Hi since this is my first post)

Thank you, you seem very insightful I must say, I seldom let a gene define what i listen to, but It's easy to find similar
good music when you know what to search for, I did go to a lot of shows and small music clubs in my early years but
now I find myself working to much so all the good bands I knew are gone or not what I like nowdays, hence I need
to search and hope for people (such as you music lovers on this forum) to lend me an advice from time to time.
Sadly I can't contribute much to repay the effort given to me, unless you would have an interest in integrated circuit
design.
Thanks for the advice anyhow I'll check out Dismemberment Plan!

Alls I know is I bought Geography Cones because it has a pirate walrus on the back.
I just had to offset Tommy's insightfulness a little. If you only get insightful replies to your questions, you're not really getting the "flavor" of this forum.

Everyone should check out the Dismemberment Plan. Please enjoy, oh and start with their album Emergency & I

Hey, thanks!
The Dplan comparison is right on..... not only are they one of my favorite bands ever, but Jason Caddell actually produced our new album. I wound up recording most of the guitar parts through his setup, which resulted in some truly awesome/embarrassing geekouts. "HEY JASON THIS SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE THE GUITAR SOUND YOU USED ON I <3 A MAGICIAN HOMG." Is anybody here going to the reunion shows??!

what
In other news Get Him Eat Him (especially on songs like "Exposure") sounds a lot more like power-pop to me, which is basically a genre that says "poppy rock but more adventurous and muscular." Other power-pop bands include The New Pornographers and The Cars!

Thanks!!!!
Re: power pop.... the EP version of "Exposure" is VERY power pop, as is a good deal of our first album Geography Cones. The new album is more directly inspired by '90s indie rock a la Chavez, Superchunk, Polvo, The Dismemberment Plan, The Wrens, XO-era Elliott Smith, etc. Funny you should mention Squeeze -- Chad Clark, who mixed the record, kept saying that I sound like Glen Tilbrook -- I can't really hear it, but I'm definitely flattered.
And yeah, both Jay and Jason were amazing to work with. Actually, everyone who engineered/mixed this record -- Jason, Joel Hamilton, Chad Clark from Beauty Pill, TJ Lipple from Aloha, Charles Bissell from the Wrens -- was amazing to work with. We have been crazy-lucky in that respect.

I wiki'ed GHEH, heh. Interesting stuff...MATT! He works for Pitchfork guys! Quick! Hide the hate!
-
Oh dang I didn't realize that was TJ from Aloha! His band is also SO GOOD.
-
Yeah, Aloha is tops. TJ is an amazing guy -- really chill, and really focused. (Which is great for me, since I tend to be pretty frantic when I'm working.) He also mastered the record, which accounts for why it sounds really dimensional and cool (and slightly quieter than most things that come out now).
