Title: Lil' Bush
Post by: ALoveSupreme on 02 Jun 2007, 12:54
I hate to start a topic that is negative towards the subject, but I need to hear someone else state that this show looks like easily one of the absolute worst excuses for political humor since.... well, I suppose anything Mad TV ever attempted.

They showed a small sample at the end of an On Demand South Park episode.  I can't even imagine where they got the green light for this program.  There aren't even any jokes!  It's just completely obtuse references to political situations, some of which weren't even origianlly funny.

I guess I just needed to rant about this and hear others state the same opiniopn (even though it hasn't aired yet, to most I think the quality of the program should be fairly obvious?).

Saw the commercials for it, and I agree; it looks like it will suck donkey balls.

Honestly, I can't see who would actually watch it. (Or was it on yet?)

does anyone else remember that show that Comedy Central made near the start of his term?  I think it was called That's My Bush?  I think Lil' Bush will be exactly like that

It's Comedy Central's way of dissing the current administration.

Just like "That's my Bush" except as a cartoon so they can be more outrageous.

Because, you know, Comedy Central doesn't quite have enough shows that already make fun of politics, let alone the current administration. Way to go Comedy Central. You beat that dead horse. You beat it good.

I may have to disagree with the "That's My Bush" comparison.  That's My Bush was more of a paroody of awful sitcoms and the really bad plotlines that every single one shares.  ... I guess I just happened to like that program

I got tired of the Bush jokes around December of 1999.

Almost 8 years later, and we as a society have yet to get over it. It wasn't funny in 2000. It wasn't funny in 2004, and it sure as hell wont be funny in 2008.

How many jokes can you make along the lines of "Haha, that man's stupid. I'm so witty."?

Yeah, but there's a difference when a show has the air of a newscast versus being a cartoon.  It's expected for news to disagree with everything that the president does.  It's supposed to be "edgy" when it's a cartoon, I guess.

I mean, that's the only reason I can think they'd do it.

Sorry, but any time Stephen Colbert makes fun of anything, it's hilarious.  Including Bush.

Stephen Colbert is really the exception to any rule.

He's actually witty in his jokes, because he doesn't just flat out say "Bush is an idiot". He actually says quit the contrary. He never makes any negative statements about Bush, he lets the viewers discover the funny for themselves.

It's very fresh comedy that I quite enjoy.
