For some reason, when I crashed on my other guitar player's couch last night, I thought it would be a super idea to go to sleep with Fabulous Muscles on repeat and pretty loud.
I think I woke up every single time "I Luv the Valley OH!" came on.
-
I did this with Monster by REM the other day. I fell asleep while 'Let Me In' was on and i awoke with the need to make a mix cd where it is the last track
-
it's weird how you can fall asleep listening to something on repeat and always wake up during the same exact song or a certain part of a song. that's why i don't listen to music when i sleep anymore. i have insomnia so i need to squeeze every bit of sleep i can out of each night.

When I sleep at my house I have a fan.
Because it drones and stuff. Lulls you to sleep.
Otherwise I try to carry a copy of Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music with me

I usually always sleep to music. I'm so used to it at this point that a few days ago, I left my iPod in a friend's purse and couldn't fall asleep all night.
Last few nights I've put on Dreamt For Lightyears In The Belly Of A Mountain by Sparklehorse, Young Team by Mogwai, and Baby 81 by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

That sounds like it would cause some serious subliminal penis dreams...

When I go to sleep sober, I always pick soothing stuff like Labradford or Matt Elliott.
When I'm drunk, I usually pick something weird or sentimental. I hate Jeff Mangum for ending On Avery Island with that horrible 10 minutes of noise, though I have actually put it on and managed to not be woken up by it.

Falling asleep to A Ghost Is Born and Kid A work really well.
-
At least I got to pick my own music this time. Last time I crashed at his house, I went to sleep before he did and he thought it would be hilarious to put a Journey album on repeat.
The time before that, it was Metal Machine Music.

<King Missile>
I woke up this morning with a bad hangover
And my penis was missing again
This happens all the time
It's subliminal

After a few rounds I always have the urge to listen to the band I was in during middle school, Vaginal Vacuum. We were just a couple of kids who listened to way too much Anal Cunt and figured out how to use a computer mic...had our whole lives ahead of us
-
When I get boozy I insist upon playing Kiss, lots and lots of Kiss.
BECAUSE THEY ROCK, DUDE.
-
People listen to Anal Cunt?
-
I usually try to listen to instrumental or ambient music at night.
-
Who doesn't listen to Anal Cunt?
Vaginal Vaccum is an amazing name for a band.
-
People listen to Anal Cunt and take them seriously?

They played the new Powderfinger album at about 3am on TripleJ a while ago, just as I was going to sleep. I woke up four hours later with this terrible urge to buy it.

Falling asleep to A Ghost Is Born and Kid A work really well.
Johnny C is right.
-
Dude I love Metal Machine Music but as an album to listen to on repeat for 8 hours... well.
-
I listened to some Godspeed You! last night, it really helped to get me to sleep. It wasn't on repeat though.
I'm just trying to remember some songs I did listen to on repeat when I slept, but it's been a while. One was Pacific State by 808 State.

We made a Christmas album :-D
People listen to Anal Cunt and take them seriously?
Never said we took them seriously, we just thought they were funny as hell (still do).

Well, last night we played a fucking awesome show (receiving many compliments and "Jesus, you guys were fucking loud", which is also a compliment) so aforementioned other-guitar-player and I stayed up celebrating and drinking until 8 in the goddamn moirning (just to make it extra weird, his 14 year old daughter was hanging out with us too).
This time, I thought it would be a great idea to listen to Gish on about 11. I just now realized this as I checked my CD player.

The first time I heard Sufjan Stevens' Illinoise I was passing out drunk, but significantly more stoned. I was really weirded out by all the instruments and general idiosyncrasies of the record.

I agree that GY!BE is nice to fall asleep to, provided it's on pretty quiet, I guess. Also anything Will Oldham has done, except maybe when he did that album with Tortoise.
I once made the mistake of falling asleep to Mezzanine by Massive Attack while in the backseat of my parents' car while driving across the state. My dad's a jerk and would jerk the wheel every so often so my head would flop over... between the constant falling over and the music, I had really strange and terrifying dreams. Don't do it.

I think the one time I can truly say I slept like a baby was that night I put Young Team on before bed.
