Title: 1408
Post by: Cartilage Head on 23 Jun 2007, 11:27
I just wanted to get opinions on it. I thought it looked very shitty from the previews.. what do you others think? This is mostly directed at those who have seen it.

The commercials don't look good, but I thought the full length trailer made it look pretty good. It's generally getting good critical response and I'm pretty interested in it.

Really? I read Joe Dunn's review (http://www.digitalpimponline.com/strips.php?title=movie&start=0) today and it sounds like a pretty good movie.

I was planing on going to see it if it ever gets here.

Most of the reviews that I've read about the film were very positive, and I enjoy Cusack, so I wouldn't mind seeing it. It can't be much worse than the rest of the mainstream "horror" schlock that is regurgitated into theater's nationwide every month.

Look, guys, I had my teeth pulled the same day and there were parts in the film where I said to myself, "You know, I'd rather focus on the pain right now."

Just came back from the movie.

If you like fun, you should see the movie.

The audience laughed when stuff made them jump, and Cusac's reactions were great in my opinion... although he's no Nicholas Cage or Jack Nicholson when it comes to acting like he's completely freaked out.
But what I thought was totally unique was his amused reaction to things... the man was pretty much as desensitized to creepy stuff as the audience was... so his little smirks here and there were very relateable.

There were some very decent creepy moments, but I felt like some of the pressure let up eventually. I didn't really "Stay scared." -wink wink-

Worth catching in the theater, because on the TV screen it won't be as fun. They never really are.

This isn't really a mystery, or much of a ghost story, or a slasher.
This is a man in a room that becomes his worst nightmare, and there's a clock counting down.

I just got back from watching the movie tonight. I am not a horror fan, but that is what my friend wanted to do for her birthday, so I sucked it up and went. For the most part the movie was decent. I hid at all of the parts where things popped out at you and such. However there was a good twenty or thirty minutes that didn't need to be in there and with bad special effects brought the whole movie down. I think the movie would have been much scarier if the changes in the room were more subtle.

I just watched this last night...definitely see it in the theater if you intend to watch it at all; the surround sound at REALLY HIGH VOLUMES is what makes this movie worth watching. I think it was one of the loudest fucking films I have ever watched.

I went to see that movie with my parents. It has those "WTF I wasn't expecting THAT moments", and those moments where you're genuinely freaked out.

Overall in comparison to other horror films--it wasn't that great.

It's not even a sort of bad you can laugh at.
You just feel a pit in your stomach, knowing that you have just wasted nine dollars and two hours of time that you will never get back.
